I am in Almaty in Kazakhstan with both front fork oil seals blown awaiting spares, does any one know anywere I can get them replaced in Almaty, please send any replies to
Don't know matey but ask on ADVrider. There is bound to be someone who passed through there and knows where to go. Ask for the local motorcycle club. Somebody there should know. You might have to order the parts and get it shipped to your next city stop. Walter Colebatch should know about the area, see if you can get in contact with him.

Cor Blimey, thats sorta kinda a pretty big old unit for that part of the world. I am with the other guys here, I am trying to understand what exactly is leaking. AFAIK there is no oil in the forks for a 1200GSA? All the damping is done by the front shock in the wishbone telelever thingy.
Pretty much your best best no matter what the problem in Almaty is to get yourself to MyTown Moto. They are the primary motorcycle repair shop in Almaty, in fact in the whole stans. N43.20611 E76.90482. Forget the BMW dealer in Almaty. They dont really fix anything and dont know anything about motorcycles. All they do is sell them. They are only interested in BMW cars. They wont / cant help you. The guys at MyTown Moto are the best motorcycle mechanics in the whole stans and will at least be able to properly diagnose the problem and once you know whats faulty, they will either be able to bodge up a fix or else you will know exactly what part to order from your local dealer and get DHLed over to Almaty. Dont even bother to try and get the part via the BMW dealer in Almaty, they will quote you 3 weeks minimum and in reality it could be up to 6 weeks for parts which they probably wont be able to fit. Just get the parts from the UK and DHL them in. Should take 4-5 days. If its just seals, they maybe cleanable rather than need replacing. MTM guys will advise once they identify the actual problem.
