Help with my brakes R1200 GSA 09

I want to service my calipers because its not been done since I've had it 2 years ago.

Is there any links fellow tossers can give me to decent guides on what I need to cover and step by step instructions?

Think I'm going to change my pads while I'm there as well to brembo sintered .

Any help would be much appreciated :)
 
Just bought a full set of brembo sintered from the bay for £77 :-)

These aren't standard parts
 
Stripping and cleaning the calipers is good sense as you can often put the seals back. Seals for the back are only £18 but fronts complete with pistons are £60 per side.

I recently posted a how to for the rear brake. Front is likely to be similar.
Changing the fluid makes sense but you mess a GS-911 to flush fluid through the ABS modulator.

Pads have to bed into the disc so I only change them when damaged or worn out. Why suffer the side effects (and costs) of new pads if they are not needed.

You'll need the GS-911 to bleed or flush the ABS system. You don't need it to bleed the brake calipers but allow ANY air into the system from the reservoir and you will have to bleed the lot and that must be done with the 911. Be very careful.
 
I think I'm going to leave drain brake fluid till next winter and just do pads and silicon grease what needs it till then.

I don't have a GS-911 just now and until I get one don't want to risk upsetting the system and being forced into shelling out more money.

If any of the brake pistons are not moving correctly you will get uneven pad wear. Any symptoms like that are best sorted sooner rather than later. The time difference will only be a few months but doing it early gives a good chance the seals will be perfectly serviceable. Leave it too long and they wont be. If the pads are wearing evenly you can reasonably assume the seals are all doing fine.

The back brake for some reason suffers more than the fronts but the seals are so cheap its daft to not replace them. The fronts come as a set with pistons at £60 per side. Great if you need all of that but a bit annoying if you only need new seals. And even more annoying if a stitch in time would have saved the cost.
