Hi everyone,

As the proud new owner of a '09 GSA I now realize why everyone I spoke to who owned one was overwhelmingly positive about them. At 6ft 5 and 18+stone its much more "me" than a tiny race rep and every bit as fast cross country on Northern Irish back roads!

However i have one small problem, the headlights are... ok but could be much better.

I know the subject of extra spot/ driving/ fog lights has been discussed extensively on these forums but I'm almost more confused after trawling through them?

Basically there seems to be plenty of options from Touratech / Twalcom etc but there are different fittings for pre '08 models and later ones like mine? The problem is the newer ones seem to sit above the crash bars whereas I wanted ones to sit lower and wider like the pre '08 kits or the genuine BMW ones.

Has anyone else had this problem or been able to fit the older ones to the newer bike?

Thanks.

Thanks, I had considered that option too Miff, Cost wise im sure they make a massive improvement in the standard dip beam compared to extra fog lights but im also thinking about being seen and standing out in traffic and think the 3 light combo catches drivers eye better?

In an ideal world HID upgraded fogs and main lights would solve both problems but im struggling to justify the expense!

That sid Les Wassal seems to know his stuff about HIDs and comes highly recommended so if i go down that route ill definitely give him a call!

I fitted a Migsel light bar on my '08 GSA and fitted the Aux lights underneath and a pair of Hella FF50 spots on top. Dipped beam and the Aux lights are HiD and the main beam/spots have Philips Xtreme bulbs. Works for me. The Migsel also allows the fitting of twin Magnum horns for scaring those that pull out on you but that doesn't happen that often given the light output of the front end.:augie

I have 50w dip and 50w main beam HID. It really is like turning night into day.

I have no NEED for spotlights, but I'm fitting some anyway. I need to farkle, and the Mrs was screaming out for Xmas/Birthday ideas.

I had the main beam set up with HiD to but didn't like the delay when switching it on so went back to standard. my perception was the dip beam was much improved with HiD but the main beam was not so impressive, hence fitting the FF50's. I kept the ballast on the bike though so its quick to change if it fails on the dipped beam.

I am considering a pair of FF50 driving lamps for my bike. Can you tell me if, when they are operating, the top of the beam is a flat line across the road - to allow them to be used as dipped headlights or are they the usual circular cone (general) area of light ?
Thanks in advance.

FF50 only do the spot light or the fog light, the German label says Drive but it's very wide and dispersed light so much more fog, the Hella DE is the light that can be used for drive and day time running light also has the sharpe cut of.

I'm considering fitting a pair of these spot lights. I want them on with dipped beam (so would be like daytime running lights (DRLs)).
Now, I think I want the FOG lights, so the beam is cast low and won't dazzle traffic.
Or am I wrong and would spots be best???

If you used the spots you would have to shape them down as they are more pencil beam, the fogs may be better if you want a drive light, but the DE's are the better option for that :thumb2

If you need any I have stock :D
