Just wondering if anyone knows of a wiring diagram or where the original stoplights should take power from on a 2012 twin cam gsa.

My bike has at some point in the past been fitted with aftermarket lights that im happy with but I’m not sure about the wiring which may have been messed around with.

What I’ve got is a handlebar mounted switch that works as you would expect but if I forget to switch the lights off when i turn the bike off they stay lit for 10 or 11 minutes before turning off so I’m guessing they have been wired into the canbus system, is this correct??

Thanks.

Have a check under the under seat tray. That's where there OEM Aux power plug cable enters. It may have been spliced in there (or used a Y-splitter). If it's a tail light, that would make this a convenient - but really not ideal - point to get power from. But all that's a guess of course. Quick look will answer it quite quickly. But your idea it's on a canbus managed circuit would seem right

The OEM Spotlights on a 2012 are separate from the can bus.
They have their own relay under the tank and 2 fuses at the side of the air box.

Ok thanks. I seem to remember something about two yellow relays side by side under the tank, started taking the panels off and will have the tank off tomorrow for further investigation.

I had an issue on a friends bike what showed up was that there was a Dead short at the Bulb

Once the bulb was disconnected and the bike started again, The other spotlamp came on, so I suspect that there was some canbus link cutting power in the Central control unit as they do not come on until the engine is running in the first place

Oh. I read 'stop lights'...thinking there was some installation on the rear end!

So it's spot lights, not stop lights? 😄

Ignore my earlier post!

He did say Stop lights in the first post So you are not imaging anything
He most certainly did and it was completely by mistake, I definitely meant Spot lights, DRL’s auxiliary lighting that kind of thing, just tried to edit it but it won’t let me sorry for the confusion guys.

There's a thread here with some info that may help (post #9 has a digram). The normal trigger feed for the aux lights switch/relay is a feed from the ZFE module that is live when the headlight is on. As Slipperyeel suggests it is most likely that this feed has been taken from the auxiliary socket supply or the supply to the socket for which is intended for a sat-nav, both these shut down up to 10 mins after ignition off.

All lights are separate from the CAN bus since it has nothing to do with chassis electrics, but rather it does data comms amongst the controllers.
