Hi all,
I have a 2012 1200gs with wire wheels. I am looking to buy some alloy wheels to just run road tires and be able to swap easily to the wire wheels when I want to use enduro tires.

I have been offered a set of alloys from a 2005 1200gs, does anyone know if they will fit on my 2012 bike..

The numbers on the alloy wheels are as follows.
Rear. MT H2 4.0 x 17. 3006004. 7664746. MR 302
Front. MT 2.50 x 19. H2. 7659544. MR 301

Thanks for any advise on this.

All GS Hexhead wheels are interchangeable. I have Mk1 GS wheels on my Mk2 GSA. Mk3 is the same fitting.
There is no performance difference and they take the same tyre sizes as the wires.
The alloys in gloss black do suit the bike.
If you want road bike tyre sizes you'll need RT or RS wheels and the rear swing arm to suit.
There's a recent thread on the subject that covers the mod to RT wheels.

make sure you get the correct rear wheel bolts, also if you can try for a set of s/hand front discs the torx bolts for the dics are made out of cheese and will only last a couple of disc swaps.

Grind the Torx key end to remove the chamfer. Then there's more of the tooth face in contact with the bolt head.

Much cheaper option is to just run Enduro tyres. I'm on TKC80s all the time.

Had two sets of wheels for my hexhead but ended up leaving TKCs on. On my WC have one set of wheels with TKCs and no intention of getting 2nd set.

HI , I have two sets for my 09 GS . both sets have discs fitted so I dont have to swap them as I agree the disc bolts are a bitch to swap.

Thanks for the advise guys. :thumb2

I got a set of scruffy Adventure wire wheels in the end. Good set of discs included.

I was thinking of putting a set of Mytas E09 or E10 on them, I have been told they are pretty good. ?

Keep my nice wheels with Michelin Anakee's for on the road.
