Hi I know it's been asked before, but can the rocker covers be removed IE: for servising with the bars in place on the 1200gs?

Also what other rocker cover protectors can be fitted along with these bars? I currently have the plastic BM ones, and am considering the adventure or TT protectors.

Cheers Val.

I have the H&B engine and tank bars, the bike was in for it's 6k service and after speaking to NOG about them first decided to remove them myself, NOG seemed to think they would need to come off for a service and if they remove them it adds 10%.

The engine bars are made up of 3 parts, the bars around the cylinders and a cross piece to connect them, I left the cross piece in place and just removed the cylinder bar parts, it's a 10 minute job to remove them or put them back on.

I have H+B engine bars and have just had my 12000 service, no extra cash paid to have them removed so i think they must be ok for rocker cover jobs.

Took my bike to NOG as well and the bars weren't removed. I specifically asked the question before and after.

Can't speak for the TT or GSA protectors but the standard BM plastic rocker covers will fit fine with H&B engine bars.
Beware the H&B tank protectors though. Look splendid but are a complete bugger to fit and you can't remove the side panels without either removing or loosening them sufficiently which is a right pain. A bit of thought during R&D would have sorted the problem - I reckon they only need another 1/2'' clearance on each side and the problem would be solved.

Thanks for your replys gentalmen.

I spoke to Mat at NOG and he wasn't sure if they would need to be removed or not. I'll ask him to check with the workshop when I go over on monday.
I was going to fit the bars on sunday but I'll wait till the new rocker cover has been fitted.

I'm gessing that if it only takes 10 minutes each side to remove them, I should be able to fit them in about an hour and a half?

Cheers Val.

... Will H&B Bars fit 'over' the factory aluminium head protectors ... Or will S&W / TT bars fit over them for that matter.

... Any wisdom out there?

Mine went for the first service with bars on and no mention of extra work to remove although the service manager said the heads need re-tensioning etc on the first service. Guessing it was all done with bars in place. Seems to be plenty of room to move there anyway with them installed. Dropped bike on concrete the other day while having a sh*tty morning :spitfire and glad the bars were there. Slight mark on bar and handle bar end was all the damage. :thumb

I fitted H&B bars this week. They really are straightforward to fit, 1 hour maximum. (realistically 30 mins).

I spent longer looking at the instructions thinking it was going to be hard than I did actually fitting them !

Once fitted, each side can be removed in a couple of minutes so no problem for servicing.

Hi I know it's been asked before,

Can I ask why you are asking again then?

They can if you havent had the bike on the side too many times. Mine had been 'adjusted' northwards and coopers Reading had to remove them to get the rocker covers off. Fair play to them though - no extra charge :thumb
