In the case of Royal Enfield they changed quite a long time ago. When the UK is a third world country and our wages are more competitive than those in India and China, maybe we could buy some of the old Chinese/Indian production lines and start a motorcycle industry here

Motocycles will have been finished in this country long before or if that was to happen; there wont be a rd we'll be allowed to ride one on.

Moto GB have sold out of the standard bike till August but have some Pros in stock so I should have it in a few weeks .

As per the Royal Enfield, the good thing with Heros, being Indian is there’s loads of cheap shite for them on eBay direct from India .

Picked it up today





Only done 20 miles as just back from Himalayas and off to work tomorrow.
Seems great so far . I’ve firmed up the suspension .
Nice tall riding position . Motor is very smooth . Pulls from 20mph in fifth .

Might possibly get the peg reposition kit as they are quite far forward when standing up . Otherwise it’s great .

The side stand extender , rear rack and generic ally hand guards all don’t fit but was all cheap on eBay . The pannier rails should be fine as same ones that @nathanthepostman had fitted on his Pro to take to Iceland.
Haven’t even paid for it yet as dealer waiting for correct invoice from MotoGB rep but should be about £2800 OTR over here .

I’m looking at one of these, voge or CRF 250 rally for Africa. Sitting and standing at the ABR and the Hero felt more comfortable than the Voge but I didn’t have time for a ride - soon.

Needed a bit of Dremeling but it’s on fine .



Cheap Oxford waterproof magnetic tank bag arrived today too




Then unpacked the pannier rails to find they are the wrong ones .

Finally got invoice from dealer . Was expecting about £2800 OTR but it’s even cheaper at £2617 !

EBay seller assures me the pannier rails will fit , as they are a different brand to the ones advertised .
He’s going to send me an installation video but I’m still not convinced .
Did a few more miles today. It’s very pleasant .



The motor is very very smooth with perfect fuelling . Obviously not very quick but it picks up cleanly even in a high gear .
Seat is firm but seems comfortable and plenty of leg room on the Pro with 890 seat height and I’m 6’1”.
All controls are very light and easy to use .
Suspension seems nice and firm but compliant and is adjustable for both compression and rebound both forks and rear shock.
Very little not to like . The foot pegs are a bit narrow and a bit too far forward and the bar riser fitted as standard is possibly a bit too tall so when standing you are a bit too much bier the tank and leaning back .
I’ve seen a kit to move the pegs rearwards but might wait until someone makes some wider pegs in the hope that they are also moved a tad rearwards .
But it’s not a great issue and you can still stand up with no issues .
It’s certainly a cracking bike for way under £3k.
Looking forward to mucking about on the TET in Brittany when I can , though maybe not till next year at this rate.

Bit of a bargain I think

So I was being a numpty, not helped by being sent a different set of supports to that shown in the eBay ad description.
They fit just fine though there’s no crossbar support at the back .



They’re actually neater than the other make I thought I was getting . And they were only £73 delivered
I’d ordered a set of Lomo bags like I had on Himmy 450 that attach direct to the frames but think I’ll try and return them and get a set of Rhinowalks as they attach over the pillion seat and that will take some load off the frames themselves
