I'd love to join you guys tomorrow. But as Tony is'nt, and other buddies are busy I'll be taking my lad riding instead. A word of warning. Standon ford is deep. Even in the shallow side. Anyone riding a GS 11/1150 might consider using a periscope on their air intake pipe! Anyways have fun. M.C.

Simon have set up FTP and PM'd you for the video.

Although I'm sure the others will comment, I managed to slide bike down road on black ice (holed waterproofs ), dropped it in mud and was nearly ran into by following 12, and finally had a polite bump into a pogo which suffered the domino effect

A great day out where I aqquired rather different skills to those of Salisbury tank range, but the 1150 really is too heavy for sludge mud.

But did a 1150 and 1200 get through the ford crossing?...

In the event, there were just 5 of us off in search of wombats in the crispness of a November morning.

Simon1725 on his GS12
Clive on his 250 pogo
snoopy on his 1150GSA
Activmoto on a borrowed Triumph 900 retro-thing
and me on my DR-Z

Just one minor fall and a couple of spears towards the scenery in a particularly muddy lane were the sole notables in the first half of the run.

Then we got to the fords. Here's Activmoto crossing the second Latchford ford:

Then we arrived at the Standon ford. the assembled throng, having seen me have a quick dab, decide that it's 'do-able' on everything except the Triumph. Here's snoopy:



Then we went on to Furneux Pelham where the Triumph dropped onto one cylinder (having passed a drowned Land Rover).

Shortly after, the still frosty roads caught out snoopy who had a low-speed tumble. The sacraficial BMW engine bars preventing too much damage.

A soft grassy rise proved a challenge for the heavier bikes, particularly as tyres became clogged. But Clive shows how it's done!











Which brings me to the end of this particular lane. There I was, sitting astride the bike waiting for the others to arrive, and along comes this 1150GSA, moving briskly but unable to slow, so its pilot decides that his best course is to head for me!!



All in all, a day day's ride.
