Hertfordshire Green Lanes 1st Nov

Thanks Wref

Great day.

Cheers :thumb2

The river bed was crazy, I think that found the limit of the 950 :blast

Hope auto clutch man is OK after his usual bike/tree/leg interface

When we doing it again ?

Great day out Wreford. Agree about the riverbed. My front teeth still hurt!! It's all scabbing over nicely.

Next time I’ll put my contact lenses in so I can see fallen trees:rolleyes:

great day out

Wreford, et al,

thanks for a fun day out....

Will be doing a ride in a couple of weeks time around Hants and Surrey for anyone who is interested. Watch this space.

Where was that then? Was it Furneux Pelham?

The river was 'The Old Bourne' to the East of Bennigton - There are no pictures because once you enter you are lost untill you come out even though there is another track that runs 10 feet above and beside it in many place (those where you will come to a cropper) you cannot see through the undergrowth.

When Simon failed to surface it took Jarv riding beside the track sounding his horn to find him.

What was the name of that gorge/gap that an army team got lost in a few years back? - This route is the hertfordshire version.

950 Dave and Myself only did the first leg with the trials section warning us of entering the second section which was tackled by the rest with Dave and Simon being taken out by trees... Only Loz and Jarv tackled the thrid section.

When 950 Dave and Myself road past the second section despite ridding beside the ditch we where unaware of the rest just a few feet down below us.

I spoke with Richard last night... His leg is black and blue but he'll survive

I have still got a dead leg from fall down there. No running for me this week:confused:

Wreford, what about 29/30th November?......
Or shall I organise something in Wales for then?:augie

Timpo.

PS. Is there a ride report for this 1st November ride?:popcorn

29th or 30th are a free for me at the moment, do you want a tour of Hertfordshire? It's not a patch on North Wales ;-)

I'm happy to host a tour of the local pubs the night before and have crash space at mine.

An alternative is we have Nathan plan us a salisbury plain route - are you there Nathan? - That would give use some high speed fun.

Ride Report?

8 rider started 20 mins late
2X XC
1 X KDX 250 stroker
5 KTMs
Lots of trees down due to the snow
Richard shot of into the trees again! - and took the side off his XC and bashed his leg up
Only two of the 8 roade the 2nd Redbourne ford - Loz and Me
Adam took us to a place only the brave will dare to go - which gave Dave a dead leg and Simon facial damage
It started to rain
We had to cut short and ride 25 miles of dual carriage to get back on time
My GPS showed 168 miles

A tour of Herts would be fine. I will be aboard the Tenere, no pogo but don't let that lessen the technicality:D.
I think Loz maybe interested in a weekend visit there also, I think he showed some interest earlier.
Arriving Friday afternoon and departing Sunday evening will be my plan, how's that sound?

Timpo.

next trip we could include this one:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQy2bL_7g-o&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uQy2bL_7g-o&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

That's the first one - the second one a little further down the track is much deeper.

Wreford, did any of the other riders get pics of you or Loz crossing?[/QUOTE]

Not from this weekends ride but this is Loz rididng it on his Super Enduro back in the summer:

Bloody marvellous, I spend my whole life living in sunny hertfordshire, St.Albans Jersey Farm, then in WGC before moving to France. And now I come across this thread about you lot living it up in the lanes of the area where I grew up. Me Jealous? No! It's a long way to come back to hook up with you all....maybe in the future as I still have family living in Hitchin / Baldock.
I think I was passed by some of you guys around July sort of time, there was a diversion around roadworks on the Hitchin to Codicote road, never seen so many KTM's.

We do cross that road, if it was us we would have been coming towards Codicote from Hitchin and turning right towards Whitwell to ride that nice chalky climb... The real tale tale would have been an Airhead at the front

I'll work on a full weekend pass... I've just used one up for a snowden walking trip on the 15th/16th.

There's not two days riding hin Hertforsdahie so maybe we could do a Sailsbury Plain on the Saturday (Nathan?) and a Herts on the Sunday with you getting away by 4:00 assuming your not stranded in the New Bourne Gap ;-)
