Hexa T wheel hub cover removal

Hi,

I need to remove the back tyre from my bike but have found that the previous owner has put on a "Hexa T" wheel hub cover - such as this one...

As you can see there's a small hole on one side which may have something to do with removing it, but I thought I'd ask around before launching myself at it.

Does anyone have these as well, and how do you get them off?

I've never even seen one let alone took one off.

I take it you've tried just pulling it?

Heh, yup, tried that. I got in contact with the main Wunderlich supplier in the UK, and he's sent an email to the company in Germany - so it's in process.

I know someone who bought one to cover-up the rusty heads of the wheel-bolts on his 1100. He could have bought three sets of new wheel-nuts for the same price.

Best bit was, he set off on a trip abroad and on the first stretch of Spanish dual-carriageway, he was overtaken by the thing when it came off and sprinted away into the scenery never to be seen again.

It does seem like a pretty pointless thing to have, I've gotta say.

Thanks for the link Sockpuppet, I think that's a later version though - it turns out my one has been discontinued. The Germans sent back an A4 instruction sheet which essentially says it should be hand tightened, but I think someone's gone to town on it, or it's just plain seized up.

I've put some WD40 into various bits to see if that'll loosen things up a bit, but if that doesn't work things might turn ugly.
