Hey Proff

BUGGER !!!!!! lost the pics on camera card :blast

Ask Rob if he can take a couple as he owns the bike now !!

I will consider myself severely bollocked for being so lapsidasical :blast:mmmm

Stops all the emulsified goo from dripping/running down the two breather tubes (one to each carb) and clogging the jets.

Ah, is it some foam to go over the pipes that go down to the carbs?

Is it needed only if you use mineral oil instead of fully synthetic? :aidan

Not that my oil has chance to emulsify :augie

It's a small Harley style breather that plugs into the end of the pipe as it enters the airbox and replaces the Y piece and pipework from the original breather pipes. I haven't had a single problem with blocked jets and the carbs were very clean when I pulled them apart. The only downside I can see is the oily mist eventually dribbles out of the vent in the back of the airbox and down the back of the gearbox - good for preventing corrosion on the gearbox though and would only be a problem if you want a showroom bike.

Thanks, so if the airfilter box is nice and clean, and the breather is clear, your carbs aren't getting bunged up then the change is just an extra bit of bling. Not that bling is bad ..........

Exactly the opposite John....
it stops all the blocked jets, it takes at least 5000 miles for the filter to start dribbling so then you clean it, no crap in the carbs is a good thing, I've got same mod on my Gertie 80g/s

Ok I might be having a difficult day, but isn't it fuel that goes through the jets and air goes through the throttle body? So, for oil to block it'll have to go through the jet the wrong way IYSWIM?

The oil from the crankcase breather drips out of the white breather pipes in the inlet tubes and into the slow running jets at bottom of carb venturi..:blast
the mod stops it happening :thumb2..

Knew there had to be a simple answer, which is why I didn't know :augie

More bling to buy then, wonder if Thunder has already got one ............ or maybe two :D

Just been out in cold taking these so I'll post em anyway.

This is my spare engine so no breather mod.

The oil drips out the plastic tube

Down into the carb air tubes. The centre ones into the main jet.

The emulsified goo clogs the main jet in here:-

Of course if you haven't had a problem then don't worry about it :D

Those white breather pipes are the spawn of SATAN
Bloody Merkins made BMW fit them for California and silly BM decided to make them standard :(

Rob have you a fresh link to those filters? This one seems to have got lost :blast

Hmm! I can't find them now. They are basically a Harley push in breather. Solos mod will work just as well.

Hmm, this is interesting.

How much of a benefit is this mod exactly, and is it dependent on the type of oil used, if so which one Sin ,Semi or Min??? and do the carbs need altering/tweaking in any way?

It would be beneficial to see a picture or some sort of diagram though.

Also, once fitted do you then remove the white plastic tubes, or just leave them there :nenau

Val.
