This evening i decided to revive my Stelvio , I hadnt run it on the Road since Pre Covid , i did however start it , and let it idle for 10Mins occasionally.
So , this evening , i connected the Battery , positive first . then the negative , turned the ign Switch on , then hit the Start.
She just blanked out . Nothing . I noticed the positive terminal to be hot , i have a smart jump pack , which i though would sort it
but its telling me that i have a short Circuit .
Checked the Fuses beside the Battery ,and under the side panel cover all ok.
Fuses up front of dash all fine to .

? What have i done !!!

remove battery terminals, clean, reattach firmly, try again.

sounds to me like poor connection at battery.

It could be the old 'click no start' syndrome. Just type 'Moto guzzi click no start' into Google. There are a fair few video's explaining how to overcome this problem. I've had it on 2 1200 sports. Alternatively I'll take the bike off your hands for £100. Have you checked the lonesome 30amp fuse for the alternator.

Another vote for the 'click no start' issue, if that is a thing for Stelvio's too !

I had it on a 2 valve 1200 Sport which was irritating until I understood it a little better. Your first try probably hadn't quite got enough in the battery for the ecu to be happy and so whilst it sends power through the system, you don't have enough for it to approve the starter procedure. This can blow one of the fuses. I'm not sure how a Stelvio is set up, but on the 2v Sport it is one of the bank of three under the seat towards the back of the bike. After that it plays dead and needs a new fuse (of course) and a well charged battery.

I bought a simple extra bit of wiring from MPH motorcycles in Houston Texas, which bypasses some of the torturous route that the power needs to travel and so gives you a better chance of sufficient amps to be in the right place and the right time. You could make one of these up yourself I'm sure if you are good with things like that and find the details on some of the Guzzi forums.

And it's still working faultlessly...!

Glad to hear it Paul - I do hanker after that Sport from time to time, but happy that its still serving you well. I'm pottering in the shed a lot this year getting an old V7 fit for the roads. Different sort of Guzzi but I'm looking forwards to a few unhurried tours on it before winter bites. I'll get out on the Le Mans soon to blast away the cobwebs and keep myself sane-ish :DD
