Carrying one from the Tuareg thread, I tried a pair on, need to order 47s mind as 46 have that nrmal Italian "too small" feel ...

The other option would be Sidi Couriers, that I really like the look of. For sidi, they are actually made from leather which is a plus ...
Concerns ... how comfy would they be for all day wearing? Including a bit of walking around.
I also have a Buell ... can they be worn when riding that?
Or am i just being overblinged by the idea of the motocross look?

Neither boot would appear to allow the "strides in" look ....

Comments would be appeciated

Just picked up my new Sidi Discovery Tepor boots. You may want to rethink the couriers after trying these beauties......as worn by trials riders :thumb Waterproof with 'tepor' (goretex) lining. Not cheap at Euro 249 (175 quid) but I think I'm worth it :P

I've got Sidi Couriers and I think that on balance they're great - I will buy them again.. (soon actually - mine are knackered!). They are very comfy on the bike and armoured enough without making them look totally OTT. Not that good for walking about in though - nor are they very waterproof - but I likes 'em...

Iv'e got a pair of couriers and I would buy another pair.
In fact I will be soon, as the ones I bought at the tail end BMF are too small for me (size 42).
A couple of weekends ago, I went on the BMW off road course and found the boots very water proof.
The instructor I had (Gary) was wearing a pair and said he wears his all day every day and loves them.

Mike.

I had a pair of couriers (sold them), found them very awkward when changing gear. Not so bad on my GS, but other 'sports' bike they were a real pain. I would ask the dealer if you can at least sit on your Buell and try the gear/footpeg relationship. Otherwise, a nice looking boot with good features although I hear Altberg are the ones to go for.

I would only use them on a GS and a Buell ...

on the Ducati I can't even ride with a pair of Timberland or Cat boots on, because of the "throw" of the lever .... plus I would tend to be wearing full leathers ...

HG Toureg V Sidi Courier

I've had both.
The couriers lasted about 45k miles and were a very comfortable boot. The only downside was they're not waterproof. You can wear sealskin or gortex socks but once the boot is wet inside your feet are still sat in water which makes them very cold at speed. So not a very good boot through the winter months.
The stitching started to go. All in all they were a great boot to wear and offered a lot of support.
I've now been wearing the Touregs for last 30k miles, these are a very comfortable boot that you can wear all day without any problem. Gortex so are 100% waterproof. Don't offer as much support as the Sidi's did.
Looking at Gecko's thread though, the Tepors look identical to the courier and if they're waterproof I'd be very tempted to try a pair.

I'll let you know how I get on with them - since I got them I haven't managed to get out on the bike yet and the weather forecast is dry for the next few days.....so we'll have to wait and see :P

HG Tauregs

Hmmm a good few responses in the "pro sidi" category... i personally would ask how much of that "opinioning" is based on brand rather than product?

The only reason i bring this up, is look at the reply's... un-doubtedly there is a question regarding the Sidi's waterproofing, and therefore all year round suitability. The one person that has had both, finds both equally as comfortable, but the HG's ARE waterproof.

Combine that with the previous threads on HG's that you referred to and the overwhelming positive response for the HG's and I'd argue that on balance, though maybe not so stylish and not such a "label to wear" the HG's seem to come out as excellent for what you say you need?

Just my opinion, but if the question is which is best boot out of the two, i'd suggest maybe the responses you've read here and on previous thread indicate the HG's are the better buy....

However if the real question is "i'd prefer the cool look of the Sidi's, will they suffice?" then indeed you'll probably be ok with them... :P

I'm sure you'll be happy with either... good luck, let us know what you go for and how you find them in the end?

:D

To keep up a balanced view - the HG boots cost about Euro 220 over here - Sidi Discovery's (waterproof Couriers) are about Euro 250 .

If you have a word with MiGSel I'm sure he'll tell you about his HG Toureg boots which are literally falling apart after less that 2 years use. The stitching is falling apart in several places. He may have been unlucky with this being an odd problem or maybe he wades around in sulphuric acid but it put me off buying a pair of their boots after I saw his.
Too many people speak so positively of the non-waterproof sidi couriers so I figured why not try their new waterproof Discovery Tepor boots . I spoke to someone who has been using them for over a year now in amateur Trials riding competitions as well as daily biking and he swears they are still 100% waterproof.

work well on any bike. almost waterproof. comfortable to walk in but metal toe thing makes you slip when walking on concrete:( . i love mine:D
