Regulator

could be the electrical rectifier/regulator - at least I had a similar symptons on a F650 years ago. easy to check with a multimeter to see what the voltage does whilst running (think is was way to high). on my bike it also made the battery 'boil' over:eek:

good luck,

jonathan.

Thats a twin spark bike -it's already been suggested by Rob, but monkeyboys bike is a single spark bike :nenau

Buggar!!.
It was the way that the damage was caused to the plug caps that caught my eye.Do the twin sparks have different types of caps?.

And the answer seems to be...

HT Leads:)

Swapped them over from my 1100S and all is well again. I guess when I changed the gearbox they got slightly re-routed and that caused the problem to magnify.

Weird though - I've had them go on old cars as a kid but never as suddenly as this.

Who cares - at least it's fixed:clap

Thanks for all your help

Jason
