Hi all,

Just thought I'd take a quick moment to introduce myself.

Not an owner of a GS yet but hoping to be in the new year.

Always had a soft spot for the GS but always been too into my sportsbikes to consider one. However when the missus decided that she fancied coming on the back and doing longer trips we soon realised that my current ZX6R wasn't quite up the job if we still wanted to be able to stand and walk after a 5 hour trip.

Thought I had made my mind up on a Triumph Explorer the last couple of months but when I took my head out the clouds and realised I really only had about 5-6 grand to play with and not 10, and when I realised I once again hadn't won the lottery this week I decided to come back to the idea of the ol' GS and am now in the market for a decent beast

Unsure yet of if I want to take a gamble on an early 1200 or go for a late 1150 for my money but we shall see what comes available. Hankering to get out on some rides and meets so hope to be in the saddle soon!

Hi, moved from a Suzuki GSF650SK5 (64,000 miles on the clock but still going strong) to an 06 R1200GS in March this year. Took a bit of getting used to but after nearly 5,000 miles to date, I'm loving the GS. Bit of a handful in central London traffic but aside from that, it's a beaut!

buyer beware

hi ,ive got a 2012 gs done 4500 miles in 3 months .i love riding the bike but is probably the hardest seat ive ever come across ,ok for short trips but f in crap over 150 miles. be prepared to spend 300 plus on a seat .as for servicing £175 1st service ,£360 2nd @ 6000 miles.the triumph is higher milage between service and cheaper.my car is an audi q5 takes far more oil and double the cost of the oil for bike yet a service costs £240 ,it also takes twice as long.like i said i love the bike but robbing bastards springs to mind:

Also got a 2012 GS. I've found the standard seat fine. Just done a 5 day day trip averaging 300 miles a day 2 up in perfect comfort, so I don't think it's fair to say you NEED to budget £300 for a new seat. My first service was only £100 too

I've also come from sportsbikes. Traded in a GSXR1000. The GS is a great bike. Characterful engine with bags of torque. They handle pretty well but reward smooth riding. You can't change line as easily as a sportsbike, and it turns in a lot slower, but im loving the change so far
