if you are unfortunate to part from you bike in a slide, you have half a chance of being seen with one on. also if you break down and have to walk at night or day on a lane or m/way.

Another vote here for the HG Daylite Voyager.

Also, I have a sleeved mesh reflective top from GloMarka (in Devon) that sometimes gets worn over a black jacket.

When I was in London in April, I saw a large numver of riders in Hi Vis Yellow riding jackets and vests.
Couple of questions. I was only able to find one made of a non breathable plastic at Sondel that looked like it would cook you is short order at anything over 10ºc. Are there others available? If so a shop that does internet business would be helpful. It looked like a great way to be seen, by even brain dead drivers....

Hi
go to www.bikeseen.com telephone 08000434524 or

Always were one in winter - have 2 actually, one that lights up with flashing LEDs, like a big double sam browne (actually a US construction worker's one), and an orange sleveless off ebay.

Just wash it in natural soapflakes (supermarket for next to nowt) - doesn't fade then.

Bloody hell - the sleveless ones are £1.80 on hivis, amd they'll print on it for free - you can't beat that!

The benefit of the bright yellow ones is that the colour is one that does not occur in nature, and this i supposed to make them more visible.

I buy two a year, 'cos they do get pretty dirty - it does mean that my ordinary jacket stays cleaner, mind.

And after they've been washed half a dozen times, the colour tends to fade and the relective tape works less well.

And there's no doubt that when you're driving along main roads, or filtering, that a bright yellow jacket, a white helmet and headlights does mean that car drivers tend to get out of your way.

hi vis

Hi again, there is another site but it's under construction.but if you phone them they will send you a broucher the site is www.vissiwear.com

They are in Watford, Hert's. be seen be safe.his right about the lights and white helmet ;) :beerjug: Bill

Ditto the Voyager 2 commets. Its a bike jacket with full armour, removble thermal lining, removable thermal collar, shelltex for the water, cordura for the tarmac, not class 2 but does have reflective bands for nightwhilst being yellow for the day. Sufficient black parts to make it wearable outside a construction site. All the bits can be stuffed in the belt mounted bum bag which is really useful. :thumb

I have just been skiing in mine and is was chuffin brilliant - a real all rounder jacket. I even left the armour in which added to the insulation. I though people were saying 'what a _ick head' but in fact as it was so cool people wanted one.

Washable and reproofing from Nikwax but I dont know about the yellow fade durability. I think it comes with a 2 year Gaurentee.

Top marks HG. :clap

not true we use the mixed hi viz yellow/orange ones at work because next to certain types of conifer trees(light green) the yellow ones blend in

That might happen. But I've never seen a bright yellow conifer tree. But as yellow is closer to green in te spctrum than orange, I suppose the contrast may be better for orange.

But it's still true that the 'saturn yellow' is not found in nature and thus the eye picks it up very quickly.

i would rather crash than wear one of them!!!!!!!its bad enough being old enough to ride a bloody b.m.w.!!
