Hi Viz, Breatherlisers etc, Whats the score today??

Latest French requirements:

LINKY

:augie

It is so important to be prepared. I now have a trailer to carry my hi viz, spare bulbs, set of wheels, replacement bike, stretcher, first aid kit, 2 litres of O type blood, syringes, full operating theatre, trained nurse and emergency doctor. I tried to pack in a motorcycle technician with full tool kit but the little bastard wanted 100 euros per hour. Got a second medic instead, hell of a lot cheaper. I am still looking for a 1600 kilometre extension cord for the electrics, damned if I going to pay two lots of standing charges for electric back up. I've got 100 litres of oil for the bike, had to buy 20 different grades to cover all eventualities. Well you can't be too careful can you!

Next year it will be compulsory for all tourists to take French nationality at the border, this includes a 3 week lesson in Gallic shrugging whilst drinking five litres of wine and eating two kilos of over ripe brie, waving a white flag and arranging for the deportation of undesirables. hard life

Hi viz jackets/vests are reqd for the car.
Forget about breathalysers, they're not needed.
As for helmet stickers? You can, in theorry, be fined for not having them. They cost next to nothing & you have time to buy them so I would.

If you do get stopped chances are they won't bother about it, as Richard will confirm.
However, if they do decide to fine you won't you just be thinking 'I could have saved myself this grief for a few quid'? Where's the harm? :nenau

I avoid cities and try not to piss of the local feds, worked so far :thumb

I suspect if your riding like a moron and they have nothing else to pin on you then the stickers may be used for some plod based Karma

Helmet stickers...........

This law about reflective helmet stickers is a pain in the backside. The regs are ridiculous, they:
a) have to be a certain size,
b) have to be stuck on in certain places
c) should be so sticky that they "cannot be removed without damaging the helmet"!!

Don't like the sound of that. For 1 weeks riding in France, I have to apply stickers that will be there for the rest of my helmets life.

I guess the option is do it and comply, or risk it and don't complain if you get fined!!!

My understanding is that the breathalysers are still a legal requirement in France however the fines have been suspended - technically if you haven't got them then the police can stop you travelling until you have gone and bought one (two) BUT they can't fine you.
