My HID occasionally fails to start up, giving a 'LampF' error. Turning the ignition on and off again does the trick to get it working again, but I just wondered how these things fail - does the bulb get harder and harder to 'start' or does it go like a traditional filiment bulb - pop and that's it.

Sounds like the ballasts on the way out. Had a similar problem with one of mine. If you bought them from Les Wassel and its less than a year old he should replace it free of charge. Mine was just out of warranty :blast. Give him a pm and he should be able to help :thumb2

Had this happen to one of the lights on my car - took a chance that it was the igniter and sure enough it was.
It seemed the most likely cause especially when it was intermittent.

mine do that too, but it seems temperature related for some reason. No problem when it's cool, but as soon as it get's towards 20 C (not that often up here in Scotland I must admit) the HIDs are a bugger to fire up. :nenau

Could be damp in the connectors. Try unplugging the wires from the ballast and spraying some ACF 50 into the plugs, this worked for me when I had the same problem on the car a couple of months ago.
