Hi All,
Any body had any experiance of fitting HID lighting to the 1200gs? Dont mean the additional touratech spots, but a kit that replaces the original bulbs.
There is a kit from hids4u.co.uk that has previousley been fitted to some 1150 gs ers from this forum but im not to sure abut how it will affect the can bus wiring?
Logic says that if additional lights can be fitted then replacing the originals should be as easy !
Any advice and info much apriciated. :thumb

HID

Hi, tried nippys and he expressed concern about the can bus system, he was recomending the touratech option with additional lights but to my thinking thay must also use the can bus system so what is the differance.
Realy want to go down the rout of changing the original bulbs, mounting the ballast box is not a problem, just the adaptation of the wiring?
Anu one with any pointers???

Hi jbj, i fitted the Pilot 1/2 kit for bikes from hids4u, plug and play as they say and works great, i can now see in the dark. i was i a bit of a rush and fitted the Ballast under the oil cooler, simple to switch back to normal light bulb if needed. The pilot ballast is waterproof too, came the next day a big plus is that it is only 35watts.
regards. Lyn.

Hi Lyn,
Was that to the 1200gs?. Did it conect to the wiring system ok? (sorry for the dunb questions, im a numpty when it comes to lecky !! )

p.s. Any photos ?? :D

Dead easy to fit, first remove OE bulb ( honest it's best ) the lamp cover that has to be removed ( the 1/4 turn plastic thingie ) needs a hole of 22mm bunging through the middle  no problem take a bit of 22mm heating pipe heat on cooker and pust it through, clean up with Stanley knife. Fit the new HID tube as normal and lock in. Next take the small red/brown wires and fit to light OE lamp plug, these wires go to the ballast ( all connections are waterproof ) Haveing got this far take it all off again and thread the wires through the hole in the lamp houseing cover that you made a hole in :anger: refit: the new lamp has two wires with waterproof plugs already fitted this go into a flying lead from the ballast. Don't forget to find a good spot for the ballast. PS: it does have a rubber Grobit to seal the lamp cover.
Hope that helps, can't post pics cos am not a sponsor and i want use PP cos i got screw a grand with it once, can't use PM either but if you send me your e-mail addy i will send a pic or two.
