Reflective material is not safe now...

I instaled the 6000k HID 50's and it's a significant difference

Here are the install pickies on my F800GS

This is a dark stretch of road with before and after pictures. Not sure the pictures do it justice. Any road sign/cat eye/reflective material which the light hits lights up.

I don't know if it's just a good dipped beam, but the main beam does not make a big difference.

Thanks Les! :bounce1

- those with sharp eyes will also noticed that i replaced the screen with the Metal Mule one...

The ballasts are attached with the stickey velcro, so can peel off. The only (semi) permenant attachment is that i have cable-tied the power cables to the frame to keep them away from the steering. Before installing, I tried looking for how others had installed and didn't find any details...

I was very pleased that after an hours riding last night, the ballasts were still cold. The only down-side is that there is a click on the intercom when switching the lights on (only full beam while riding).

Fitted the kit yesterday to the 1150.... good instructions..... and all working well... :thumb2

Hi Les, I'd like to order a 50W 6000K HID for my R1150GSA.

What's it gonna cost me to get it to Belgium, and can I pay u using IBAN and BIC/SWIFT?

Grtz, Philip!

No problem mail me at the gmail address below.

sorted

Seeing is believing.
Fitting to an 1150 is straightforward if you take Les's advice and completely remove the headlight unit. It took me just over an hour from start to finish.
What a diference they make!
I can recommend the kit to anyone and Les is a good guy to deal with.
Thanks Les

Les,
Awaiting delivery of a new GSA. Just wondering what can I expect to pay for a 50w dip & beam HID upgrade kit including mounting bracket/s and all the hardware required? Can you please drop me a line outlining costs.

Thanks

Steve G

I have the HID50 (35 watt variety) installed by previous owner on my '08 GSA. Like some others it very occasionally won't light up on starting the engine and the LCD shows LAMPF warning. Usually this is put right by switching the ignition off and starting up again. No big deal but a little irritating and it would be great to know what the cause is.

When I have enough dosh I will upgrade both main and dip's with HID50's and put the 35's in the driving lights as it's a great improvement over standard.

It usually points to the battery, best to keep it on an Optimate or other device, as the battery need's to be on top charge due to the Canbus, also if you do a few stop starts or short runs and the battery has not re charged then you can get the fail.
Switch all the aux's of before you start the engine, this will reduce the amount of power drained before the Canbus kicks in, specially the fogs as they are not Canbus connected and take power of the Canbus.

The battery is always connected up to an Optimate but I have noticed the problem so far has only occured when starting the bike on no throttle. From cold my bike doesn't like having the throttle used on start up. If the engines warm and I blip the throttle on start up (which will kick in the alternator) I have not had the issue so you maybe right on the current draw. I do wish there was a traditional on/off switch for the headlight tho!
