Sorry - originally posted in the thread below by mistake and now meaning to hi-jack !! Ooops !!

Folks,

Is this going to be competition to the Rukka ArmaS suit ? It's certainly in the same price league. I know it's pretty new to the market, but anyone have any experience of it as yet ??

Have to say it looks good and appears in this months RIDE magazine in a small feature on CE-Approved motorcycle gear.

Comments/ thought appreciated as my much-loved Rukka Original is looking the worse for wear after 15 years (though well maintained and 'proofed') and I'd be looking to replace (cause I just feel like a change).

I'd like to try something new, but it may be difficult to go away from the known quantity of Rukka quality clobber.

Cheers :beerjug:

Hi Kevin1626,

You should really ring Hideout on this one.

However, having sat and listed to the MD (Kate) talk about the suit for 25 minutes at a recent IAM evening, I know a bit about it.

Because the suit is lined in a very light Kevlar material, its selling point is that it is a much lighter version of the Halvarssons Safety suit, and should be as robust as leather in an incident. It is basically built to Emergency Services Spec and has to survive a multitude of (expensive) tests to be approved. This is therefore not a suit that will be changed from year-to-year, as every major change will require re-certification. If there is a rip in the suit, the panel can be replaced and the seams re-waterproofed.

At the next level down, Kate has tried to learn from years of repairing and altering Rukka suits to improve where she can and adopt all the features of such "high-end" suits. You will notice that the waterproof membrane is Schoeller C-change (as used by BMW & Rev'it) rather than Goretex. This is because the up-front & annual costs of a Goretex licence would have made the suit considerably more expensive. The suit can be made-to-measure as well.

I hope this sparks your interest further as Hideout seem like a lovely, caring, but also business-like bunch of people.

John,

Appreciate the reply. I'd also sent a note to Kate and she thought it would be best to have a run down and see them and she could go through the differences with me.

I'm shedding a few pounds at the minute, so hope to get a run down to Safron-Waldon over the summer.

Cheers,
