After having hids on my previous 2 Beemers I just had to get some onto my new RT. A nice pair of 6000k and 2 hrs later I was beeming :-)

Bought a slimline 6000k H7 car kit (Canbus compatible) off eBay from We-sell-hids for £50 delivered. Only removed the indicator sections of the bike to fit, makes if quite fiddly but a relatively easy job, only tools needed were a T25 torx tool and a 1" drill bit. It's also worth while having some cable ties handy to avoid using the bracket to attach to subframe under the fairing. If you have very large hands you may need to remove more of the bodywork, alternatively enlist the help of a friend with smaller hands !

I have HID's on my RT, loads of light, but the reflectors aren't designed for HID bulbs so quite a bit of the light is unfocused and goes all over the place. You will upset some car drivers.

I have had a couple of test rides with a pal in his car and no issues reported. I understand some people like hids and others don't but if the car driver sees me then as far as I am concerned then it's mission accomplished

HIDs - RT

I've got a set waiting to go on my 2010 - gone for the H7R HID bulbs which are supposed to be more suitable for reflector lamps (rather than projector lamps). We will see - I must get round to it !
