High mileage and servicing

I am just interested whether anyone has a high mileage of say 50K and still has there bike serviced as per the manufacturers recommendations either at a main dealer or an independent? Or whether you just do things yourself as and when they are required? If you do what mileage do you have on your bike and do you intend to carry on having it serviced like this?
This is not a trick question its just where I work are thinking about producing service schedules for bikes and want to know when to do them till 50K or 100K miles.

I've got 85,000 miles on my 2000 1150 - 70,000 done by myself in the last 3 years. Had dealer sevice for first year for warranty, done it all myself since then. Still following manual timings and schedule - use genuine BMW parts and semi synthetic oil.
Will be selling in next few weeks as got an offer I can't refuse on a 2003 with under 4,000 miles

Thanks for the info Jim sounds like you've found a nice little bike there amazing the millage on some bikes don't people use them or do they have more than one bike

Just dropped mine in today to a reputable independant for its 60K mile service...

but if I wasn't such a girl I'd obviously prefer to do it myself ...

Well, first 2 years were with BMW dealers due to potential warranttee issues, thereafter I've done the minor ones and left it with Stepotoe for the major ones. Covered 55k miles that way and the only times it's let me down by the side of the road (rather than with a fault that could wait until I got it to a garage) were due to punctures and incompetence from one of the BMW mechanical dealerships.

Mines just coming up to it's 30th service,and I still do the services every 6000 miles.Apart from that,I just mend it when it breaks something,which isn't that often now.I think I should really change the alternator belt soon as well,I think it's done about 84k now,but still looks alright

Thanks for all your comments regarding mileage and servicing I have past them on. If they go ahead with doing any work on service schedules they will do them to 100K rather than 50K as they thought!

BMW already have service schedules up to and beyond 100K . Why a special need for another schedule.

These would be for all european and possibly US bikes. They already do them for cars and are thinking about expanding.

I just asked the question here, as I have a BMW and feel along with possibly Honda riders they are the best to ask due to higher millage and possibly more dealer servicing

The company I work for provides automotive information for independent garages. Most of the information is for cars but they do a motorcycle data book and are thinking of doing service schedules for bikes as they have been asked for them. As they sell throughout Europe, USA and Australia I am not sure which market is most keen for the info It is not aimed at the public or garages that only specialize in one make as they probably use the said manufacturer’s information. One of the managers asked me my opion as I am one of the few bikers at work although I have nothing to do with this information
