in reality, in my mind it does not matter whether you use mineral or semi synthetic oil, i just have always used Rock oil in my bikes. i used fully synthetic oil in the gearbox as i feel that it makes the gearbox smoother... just my observation.
if you change you oil regularly and use the bike nicely from cold until it has warmed up properly all should be fine. try to avoid lots of short journeys as this knackers oil quickly as it does not heat up fully and emulsifies.
Bumped into a mate i hadnt seen for 3 years a few days ago and his GS 1150 has just hit 115,000 but then the reason i hadnt seen him is he was not long back from a 2 up round the world trip on the bike
4 rear final drives was his main replacement bit
I have put 3000 miles on in the 2 months of ownership but its still a baby at 23,000 on an 03 model
Aye, that would be them, cracking couple and Nick told me about their upcoming plans for some more travel
Just makes want to get to my retire point sooner and get off on the bike myself for weeks on end (not quite got round the world plans but certainly start on a Europe tour)
With so little use over the years it'll be all rusty inside. Sell quickly. I'll take a chnace and give you a £100 to use it for parts
Mine is just about run in at 54,000+ One output final drive bearing and seal, an input seal but replaced the bearing and paralever pivot bearings whilst it was stripped. 2 stick coils 3 sets of front discs (2 sets under warranty because of pitting in the first and a high spot on the second) 1 rear disc + service parts
