What would be the general opinion on buying an 1150GSA with 112K on the clock.
Looks in reasonable condition for year (2002)

If anything was going to go wrong, it would have already, and would have been replaced. (at least a few times...3rd or 4th alt belt, 2nd starter motor, 3rd final drive bearing etc etc)

The engine will do another 100k as long as you keep up the oil changes

If it doesn't smoke, doesn't rattle where it oughtn't and the bloke is a middle aged mechanically competent bloke, the bike is at the right price and you like it, get it :thumb2

Win on the lottery?

Welcome :thumb

Under £2,500?

Just sold FJR so cash to spend!!

I paid a lot less for a 62K GS last year. Just surprised at how much some folks are asking for 1150s and 1200s at the moment. Maybe that's why a lot aren't moving.

I have however had to give it a lot of TLC to get it back on track. Why don't GS owners clean and maintain their bikes!

They do. Well this one does anyway :thumb2

Whats difference between single and twin spark models apart from extra sparkie?

GSA

Still around?

Yeap, took it of the market to clean it:blast
Now back to standard with a few sensible mods, pic's will be up and it willgo on eBay if it does not sell here very quick. Somebody should have snapped it up before, we will see what happens now, my circumstances have changed and it has to go:D

Lot less agro!

MORE aggro from the twin spark, a LOT higher costs to replace the coil packs (70 or so quid each, budget for a pair every three years or less if you ride in the wet) and a more expensive ECU and some ancilliary wiring bits......plus twice the cost to replace plugs on a full service.

On the up side though, Twin sparks are less prone to surging, which although can be dialled out with proper servicing on a single spark, can cause problems.

Twins also run cleaner (the prime reason for them being introduced....emissions legislation) and if you have a plug fail, will still fire on both sides.

If I was replacing my irreplaceable GSA now, I'd not give two hoots whether it was an earlier single spark or a later twin, as the age v complication equation roughly evens out in my mind at the moment....

In two years time though, I'd probably prefer a single spark over a twin assuming the condition and cosmetics of the bikes are similar.
