You care just enough to tell me that you don't care - but that is not of any technical help whatsoever and this is a technical forum and you must be nice otherwise you will get told off by the boss.

OK one of the restrictions upon the designer is to control emissions to with certain limits - after a re-map have the emissions increased? How does one tell without measuring them?
It might affect them, it might not. As they aren't tested during MOT I couldn't care less.
More probably is the bike is noisier (you'd never notice I bet) at certain parts of the rev range, as many bike are coincidentally down on power at the exact rpm that statutory noise testing is carried out. I'm not for a minute suggesting the manufacturers map their bikes to suit the testing regime![]()
I am not arguing about the rights and wrongs of putting 'performance' (in all its guises) over emissions just pointing out that it is just as much an engineering compromise that has to be met in order for BMW to sell bikes - E4 is just one of the newest compromises.
The morals of whether or not it is justifiable to do something that breaks the rules as long as you are not caught is another matter all together![]()
Sorry to point out what should be obvious but I don't think the OP was after anything technical. They just wanted to know if anyone had taken an EU4 bike to Geoff and whether they had any issues if so.
To the OP. I haven't yet but will be doing so. Judging by the balance of comments, past experience of Geoff's work and some knowledge of what is done I am very confident that there will be no issues.

Oh my God! What have I started ???
Anyway thanks for all the comments. Im pleased that it's created a group booking. I'm booked in for Sat unless I'm snowed off. Either way I'll be paying G a visit and can't wait to experience the before and after !!!
'Engineering compromise' - so not something an engineer would want to do, because it is, well, a compromise. Hilltop remove the compromise. It sounds like you are saying this will cause higher emissions? How do you know? Where remapping is done on cars and vans they are still capable of passing the emissions test for the MOT, so still legal. Indeed, remaps can improve mpg, so less emissions in general riding. Either way, it matters not as bikes are not subject to MOT tests and you are just winding them all up because they have the restricted E4 bikes you naughty man![]()
Compromises are a fact of life in engineering, cost and regulation being a couple of examples - you cannot ignore them but still have to make a good commercial product.
I don't know whether or not emissions will increase but neither do the people involved in doing the re-mapping without testing.

Please close the thread, just to shut engineer up!![]()
Good stuff always good to get the Tossers stirring... glad we have been helpful , unhelpful , off topic but what else can we do with our time .... You will be happy.![]()

Ring Geoff and ask him![]()

Perhaps The Engineer is Geoff, in disguise of course, because if it wasn't for The Engineers intervention the Hilltop threads would die out much earlier and not maintain the endless mileage that they do have.
I mean they always go on and on...and it's all good for Geoff...'no such thing as bad publicity'.
Anyway ....Soon......We will begin to have the return journey, when all the guys have had their steeds re-mapped, all the great stories etc.
I just can't wait.![]()

The answer to the OP's original question was delivered in post #3![]()

He won't have a clue, not in his interest.
