hilltop on sat for me

I agree :D

The benefits are great and are worth every penny, but it's not a 'jump on the bike to drive home and go wow' moment, its a subtle shift in lovely fuelling that you appreciate over time at slippy roundabouts, silky low revs, riding through town, winding the gas on in a corner ... etc.

+1.......most definitely the case :D

i would be well happy with that tbh

Plan to get my 2009 model remapped in the spring.. Bought the bike in std trim 12 months ago and like everything about the bike but the low down fuelling and a massive flat spot at 3K revs was doing my head in. Have since decatted it and fitted an accelerator module which improved things significantly but the problem is still there... and I want to get rid of it... if it cant be got rid of I suspect the bike will be got rid off in favour of a Triumph Explorer!! Rode one recently and that creamy grunt was bliss after low down lumpiness and hesitancy.. looking forward to hearing how it goes for you on Saturday..

Everything you ever needed to know about a Hilltop map is here..http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/348990-Hilltop-Tune?highlight=hilltop.

To sum it up:

Hilltop...most people are very happy with the extra grunt provided, does away with the flat spot and the concensus is money well spent. It doesn't affect the warranty as it can't be detected by the BMW boffins. Some say the bhp and torque gains are pure fabrication but most people don't care because the bike feels loads better.

Power Commander......same results but with the benefit that you can alter the mapping to suit your own personal style. Some say the PC unit can be affected by weather but most say it's money well spent. You have to remove when your bke is dealer serviced because the boffins don't like the bike being tampered with but it only takes 5 mins. Similar investment as the Hilltop but you can get some back when you sell it.

You pays your money and takes your choice to reach the same conclusion.

Lets not have another marathon thread ............please:augie

+1 I agree, its going to be a PC for me just not sure whether it should be 111 or V :nenau

I have a PC V on mine and it is dealer serviced. No issues I just ask them to let me know if there are any ecu mods done so I can take it back to have the mapping checked if necessary. It would be interesting to know what would happen if the dealer put a new map on when you've been hill topped.

I've got a V on my Mk2. It's just plugs in though some self amalgamating tape will tidy up the cable sleeves.

I ran a pc V on my Mk 2 for a couple of years but prefer the BMW-AF-XIED Lambda offset devices, that I have used for the past year.

well just got back and the verdict? smoooooth is what it is now,at tickover the engine is much much sweeter and when you pull away it just pulls really smoothly away almost like the 2 cylinders are really working together instead of fighting eachother.roll on acceleration is much better, much stronger.on my initial run geoff said my bike was particularly weak.power? well before it was 86hp and after 103 all at the wheel.im not going to get to excited about the power but the difference in the drivability was well worth the money imo.

My experience exactly. Glad you like it.

How long does it take at Geoff's?

Planning to see if it coould be done and home in a day from N.I

yep about an hour depending on how much bollox you talk with geoff.

My sim is to go for a remap. But for now a power commander with generic map does the job. It's even made the bike feel like it handles better probably because it inspires more confidence.

Id go for a Hilltop but its too far away and i dont want to send my ECU just to have a generic map put onto it. So PC for me and a set up on the dyno at HMD on the Black Isle.

just went out for a proper blast around surrey hills and a29,it really has improved vastly in the upper rev range it really flies,so smoother low speed runing and top end gain its all good well worth the dosh imo:thumby:
