Hiplok MD1000 Disc Locks

I like the hiplock stuff but I think it’s too easy to cut a chunk out of the disk to remove it so the cutting resistance is a bit of a waste really.

I use a disc lock if I’m popping in somewhere, more so that it can’t be rolled away but serious security involves a D lock and or chain.

Agreed, I think .
Got a good alarmed Abus disk lock but use a Litelok and strong noose chain if overnighting in non BMSBIFP 😀

I was about to post exactly the same point about a tough disc lock just encouraging scripted to cut the disc

Next disk lock I'm buying will be a Roadlok. Traditional disk locks are a 30 second job to remove with a grinder.

I have one similar to this. I mount it on the disk so it cant be rotated and means they have to cut the body, not the bolt...https://locksdirect.co.uk/products/squire-ws75-container-padlock-80mm?variant=44741226397983&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17180936791&gbraid=0AAAAADsHCPfzKwXODc6dURPRBzKiy4E2Z&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9czHBhCyARIsAFZlN8TkorS3ESI-3nsWbUtFkvO2pMGvt72nuRdnsJ-jEKZWEN5e-Qz52gsaAlfSEALw_wcB

I had a roadlock on one of my GSs. Bloody thing was always gummed up with crud...
I really like the idea of a roadlock but thought the same and also how would the pin line up with the holes in the disc - to me it looks like it’d be a faff?

Recently got the dx1000 for touring but I like the look of the md1000 for traveling light on day trips, solid kit

No issues in use on my second one well third if you count the one the thieving scum tried to cut off my 1250 !

I actually don’t line the pin up now work on the logic as soon as someone moved the bike it will engage in the hole !

Used every day all weathers as well.

Thats interesting, I didn't realise the pin was spring loaded - I might have another look.

Well worth it, if you have a 1250 I have the one of my old 1250 indoors

If they cut the disc and were being pushed along by fellow scrote on a scooter then hopefully they would instinctively pull the front brake lever at some point, lock the front wheel and get severely hurt.

I believe it’s an accepted wisdom that no device will stop a determined thief. That said, all we can hope to do is deter them by fitting the best, or multiples of, security gadgets

There is another point and it is that many insurance policies stipulate the security measures to be taken when a bike is unattended. I wonder if they would be happy if several non angle grinder resistant devices were fitted in place of one top price, top quality D lock?

I use 2 d locks if I'm leaving the bike, one an X1 grinder resistant and the other a Seatylock mason D Lock (cropper resistant), together with two alarmed disclocks...one for the rea and one for the front. It may not stop the scum but it'll be a faff to get that lot off in a 5 minute window. For good measure a hipock chain is also used where I can chain it to something solid.
