My Dad on his first motorbike. I touched up all the cracks and my sister got it framed for him. My nephew is an absolute dead ringer for his granddad though.

A great day for BSA. 1950 outside the Boardroom steps at the end of Armoury Road. From l to r. Bill Nicholson with the Skefco Gold Cup he won for best solo in the British Experts Trial, Tom Whittington (BSA Works Manager), Harold Tozer and Jack Wilkes with the Palmer Trophy for best sidecar in the British Experts Trial and George Savage (BSA Sales Manager). At this time BSA was the biggest manufacturer of motor cycles in the world.

The first FIM 500cc world champion in 1949 on the factory AJS, Les Graham, was previously a Lancaster pilot during the second world war. With prompting from close friend Bill Lomas, Les eventually made the move to the Italian MV Agusta team - but fate was waiting just around the corner! At the 1953 Isle of Man Senior TT (pictured) Les lost control of his four cylinder missile on the unforgiving Bray Hill and crashed - tragically losing his life. Some say it was caused by the leading link forks - others say it was rider error, but whatever the reason, a true hero was lost that day.
