HI Guys,

Thoght I should introduce myself as I'm new to this forum! I have just ordered my '08 GSA from Pidcock, but unfortinately have to wait till May till she arrives. This is my first BMW but can't wait! I do have one question however, I didn't spec the bike with the BMW panniers and thought I would go for the touratech ones as I have been told they are better. Is this the case and will the 2007 ones fit the 2008 bike? Cheers in advance :)

This isn't going to be an easy decision me thinks! Can't wait till May already planning some trips :)

Panniers

It really depends on the purpose required. The 'tin' ones, standard on the GSA are fine for off road etc. because they will take a good thump without too much damage; however the standard BMW vario panniers are first class and waterproof and the extension is very quick and easy. But then perhaps you have decided on metal panniers and your question was simply BMW or Touratech or etc.etc.etc;

Having thought about it all day I've ordered the BMW ones as I recon they will be more than adquate for what I want. Plus I think they look better than the touratech ones! Thanks for the advice :)

Just not sure how I'm going to wait till May, already been told off for being more excited about the bike than the holiday in Feb!!

Ive ordered mine two days ago. THey have already brought it forward from march to 1st week in feb. So i think yours will probably be very early.
I have ordered the bmw aluminium panniers. they were the same price as the vario ones. If your doing the adventure thing. go the whole hog!

Totally agree, aluminum all the way! Where did you order yours from Oly? Did you go for the ESA? I really hope they do bring it forward May is a long time away and I think I've now bored everyone I know about it now...

Hi Peak, just in time to join Piddies on their Italian tour this year :nenau

Both trips look awsome, so I'm planting the seed now with the DCU, think the Italia 08 would probably suit better as this will give me time to get used to the bike and get the first service out the way. Will email PuailBDE after I've been dragged round the trafford cantre this morning!

Welcome to the site. Might want to sort out some waterproof liners for those BMW panniers.

I've had conflicting reports on these panniers, some folk swear by em and some don't like em, but I've ordered them now so I guess I'll just have to see how it goes...
