Hmm this can be a dealbreaker for some

The only time torque will really play a good part is to overcome resistance.

a) Weight
b) Wind
c) Up Hills (gravity)

That's where you'll notice it most.

BHP is for accelleration, and getting a good combination of both is ideal.
Sorry to be pedantic but an engine does not separately possess torque and bhp characteristics as torque is one of the factors that determines power, and therefore also acceleration.

BHP is the product of torque (engine turning force) and rpm (revs per minute i.e. engine or crank rotational speed) and as such the power output at any point in the rev range is dependent on the torque being generated at that point.

It is an opinion , but the new bike is a lot more than you think , you really need to ride one and see , you may well be surprised .
I have posted before that my mate said once he rode .. fuc me (he said) that's really night and day .
Test ride one please...….your negative imputs need some foundations :thumb

I'll test ride the R1250 GSA when I'm ready to buy it. Because I will buy it :D

I fookin knew it lol

Haha, I'm just bitchin until I can afford one.

I was out on my Freaky Tween today and still like that bike... I want to pay that off first as I'll owe £6400 in 2 years time.

R1250 or an S1000RR will be next.... or a Goldwing or Monkey Bike :D

I'm offended ....

Not, i hope by my remarks?
I apologise if that is the case, i meant no offence - i react the same way to my own relations accents (Donegal / West Cork and .... Luton  ).
I blame my mother (for many many things  ) - sending me to elocution lessons.
For 8 years!

Special offer right now. Free monkey bike with a goldwing purchase. No joke. Hillarious offer but no joke.

Unless they do a Basic without ESA, keyless,SOS, GSAP and all the other unnecessary crap in 2 years time I will either keep my 2017 gsa long term or be changing brand loyalty

The 1250 standing start 1\4 mile is faster than the 1200 -- according to a test done at Bruntingthorpe.

The test comparison is on the Bennetts site and run at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground it shows the 1200gs v 1250gs.
A lot will depend on the test rider and at the end of the day its fairly academic whether or not the 1200 is faster\slower by .34 sec, the main thing is the 1250 actually feels to have a lot smoother power delivery on the road. I think some may feel it's too civilized and doesn't have as much "raw" power feeling at the bottom end because it is smoothed out??.

Sorry if the link doesn't work but the results are below.

https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesoci...-r1250gs-2019-world-first-dyno-and-speed-test

BMW R1200GS BMW R1250GS

Top speed 133.1mph 135.7mph

Standing ¼ mile 12.04 seconds @ 113.2mph 11.7 seconds @ 118.4mph

Top gear roll-on 60-90mph 5.00 seconds 4.15 seconds

Top gear roll-on 50-100mph 8.95 seconds 7.14 seconds

Braking 70mph – 0mph 50.10 metres 53.13 metres

A lot will depend on the test rider

Exactly to the point, most on here would not feel the difference albeit a bit of placebo effect, for me to feel a difference, I would need to go from a V8 to a V12.........:D

Interesting that the brakes are worse on the new bike ;)
