Hole in sump?

Have been wrestling with a stuck oil filter for the last few days. Tried all methods but in the end had to drill it out. Tried to be careful but managed to drill a hole in the engine case. So question is, is it now shagged or will the oil recirculate through this hole safely? Hole is in top right on pic.

That filter sealing face is fucked.

Ref the hole, it should be plugged at it will probably compromise oil pressure.

Chuck the bike on ebay and flog it

I'm starting to feel that way! I've smoothed off the face slightly and was hoping it would still seal. To be honest I think the pic looks worse than the reality...

So, what the hell am I gonna plug that hole with?!

Tap a thread and loctite a screw in it?

Locktite on a rivet of the same material may also suffice.

Don't tighten the new filter just nip it up and leave the sump cover off for a few rides.

That case won't be thick enough to tap and hold a screw

Personally.... with all due respect to bisbee... I'd be more comfortable using an alu rivet with locktight.
Same material as the block and it ain't going to come out either.
Before inserting the rivet I'd tap the centre pin out and put locktite in side the rivet, that way the central pin is also fixed in place.

Not a bad idea, but getting in there with a pop rivet gun might scupper the whole idea.

It should do, the original stuff There are quite a few chemical metal products to chose from in fact Loctite make one so do a little google

Just so I've got this right, knock in a tight fitting rivet with locktite. Rather than using a rivet tool (as that wouldn't fit in anyway!)

I reckon a swivel head riveter may do it, or perhaps a lazy tongue?

I was thinking it would help with your idea since we used similar stuff to fix some of the Queen's finest vehicles iykwim

If the new hole goes into the same void as the larger hole (presumably the oil gallery leading from pump to filter?) then leaving it as is should be ok.
Maybe try a bit of air pressure at one hole & see if air blows out of the other?

The seal face is damaged but should/may hold oil pressure....
