A friend and I are off to the Smoky Mountains in September
We are hiring a couple of bikes and going touring for a couple of weeks
If something unfortunate were to happen, we don't want to find ourselves facing huge medical bills!
Can anyone recommend a suitable insurance policy / provider that will comprehensively cover us, including the riding of motorcycles?

Marks and Spencer seems good to me.

Very clear policy booklet, and covers motorcycle use.

Post Office :thumb2

Someone posted yesterday, on a long running insurance thread - that Post Office were limiting cover to bikes <1,500cc.

Won't make a difference to most, but worth knowing about

American Express will cover you on any bike as long as you have a relevant bike licence and are wearing a helmet. Annual family cover for 4 worldwide for one year was £140. Any bike, any pillion...

One thing to watch out for - is that the wording of the policy doesn't state that the use of the motorcycle must be "incidental to the travel/holiday" - which would preclude cover where you are on a motorbike holiday.

Conversely, some policies only cover bikes if they are used as your main method of travel.

used dogtag and claim was surprisingly painless
