holiday on the emerald isle

I have never been over to ireland before, need some local advice
I have 7 days from the 17th -23rd June I would like to do titanic museum in belfast, devils causeway, then southwest ring of kerry etc, in the car wife wont go on bike anymore long story
due to time its sort of a day drive to either ferry in wales as i live near London so that would only leave us with 5 days on the ireland would this be enough time to do the north and the south ????
My other option was to fly to belfast hire a car then fly home from cork or dublin, Ive read a couple of things about rentals not being allowed across borderers.
Really want to come over, any advice on travel times and literary appreciated.

Ferries are a rip off ... fly , hire , drive !
It's the Giant's causeway ...... and (I believe) that's crap regarding hire cars crossing the border ... by flying , you are back up to 7 days (enough ... just)

Book cheapie flights if you can, and money saved on ferries / fuel, will pay a good chunk of the car hire

Paddywaggon go to all those places fly to dublin get the free bus to the hostel in the city centre and let the bus take you to your chosen spots i sometimes work for them driving a bus jjh

Fly drive is sensible allowing you more time to enjoy the scenes

Into Belfast and outta Dublin should be a good combination and If yer up here Give us a nod and we'll sort ya some pints and some routes

It would be great to pick up the car in Belfast and drive a anti clockwise and drop it in Dublin doing the south west on route
What's accommodation like that time of the year? I like to just turn up so we can go where we like and are not tied to getting somewhere if we are enjoying where we are or can stop if we like the look of a place

the cross border thing is bolox - only on mainland europe does that apply

was gonna bike to dublin and ride to belfasst next week (100 quid)

but fly was only 40 quid and saves 6 hours

doing the same in august for coupla days and car for two days and fly still only 75 quid

only live hour and half from holyhead and even i find the boat times a pitfa

belfast to kenmare is 280/300 miles depending on which way you go add 80 miles from giants causeway

could you come in from belfast and go out from shannon - make things a LOT easier

If I'm flying I need to go and fly back to gatwick, as I'm not too far from there, heathrow is not as easy to get to.

I have never had a problem with hire cars across borders in Europe, but a few years ago, I was in the process of hiring a transit of Belfast Hire Cars, and they refused the hire because I was going to Scotland in it. Yes, all within the United Kingdom.
I have never darkened their door since.

Given the better fly drive option 7 days is ambitious for the north & the south west. Fly into Belfast The causeway coast & Donegal could be crammed into 2 days but you will be rushing a little. After Donegal you still have Sligo, Mayo & Galway (Connemara). Galway city(better than Dublin) & the burren in Clare leaves you poised for a Shannon Gatwick flight or nip back to Knock airport.
One thing for sure - skip Dublin; it's a grand place but fly in for a long weekend some other time (skipping the car).
While I'd love to meet you in Kerry don't try to cram too much into the trip.
If the sun shines there is no better place than the emerald isle but we all know why it is emerald.

Another option , fly in Dublin down to Wicklow mountains spin to kilkenny,down to west cork around to Kerry and the burren fly back Shannon , it really is a bit busy going all the way round in 6 or 7 days , even on a bike!
