This the CRF 250 Rally I prepared for travel in Africa and rode, from Hampshire through Morocco to Mauritania and then back to UK, last October/November. The bike was chosen as a lightish, reliable, rugged 250 that could carry luggage and handle tarmac roads, as well as off-road use. It proved all of these qualities on the 5,500 mile trip. See "Gael Warning on the Ivory Coast" for the trip report.
I bought this bike for the trip, just over a year ago, as a well maintained bike with excellent suspension and a pannier frame and low mileage. I had the front suspension serviced by Rally Raid in Leicester and the rear YSS suspension by the specialist, Lukasz Tetich on the south coast. This work also lowered the bike for my 5ft 7ins frame. It has an adjustable lower link, set on the lowest setting. A new DID chain and sprockets were fitted, and I had it serviced, including brake fluid. To extend the fuel range of the 10 litre tank, a 2 L can is mounted on the pannier frames. I used my Magadan soft panniers which worked well with the frames.
I then fitted a Nav 5/6 4 button holder and a Quad Lock mount. I also installed an Aoocci C6 Pro with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, with front/rear cameras and tyre pressure monotoring. A dual USB socket is mounted on the handlebars. The bike has Oxford heated grips, useful in Spain and France in November as I returned. Also Barkbusters and a temperature gauge and a topbox as shown. All accessories listed here will be sold with the bike.
The panels on the bike are showing some use, with scuffs and a couple of repairs. All the bodywork stood up well during the trip, but a new owner may wish to replace.
The bike is now at 16,500 miles and fitted with Midas Enduro Trail tyres with 7mm thread depth. The bike runs well, starts on the button but I'll have oil change done before sale. It has an MOT till September but I'll put a fresh ticket on it. Brake pads, chain and sprockets are fine. The bike will come with spare front and rear pads as well as sprockets and some other items I put together for the African trip.
Price is £3,250 to include the accessories listed. Please send a PM/DM if interested. The bike is based in Basingstoke, Hants.
