anyone got one they want to sell?

(DCT only)

If you can stretch your budget.
Go for a 2025 onwards.
I've had all variants & the 2025 onwards version are by far the best.
Twin front discs.
Beefier suspension.
Reworked DCT gearbox.
Much improved TFT dashboard.
Vastly improved headlight.
Modern styling.
The DCT gearbox is fantastic now especially low speed, headlight actually works.
TFT with Honda Roadsync is good.

I wasn't looking to upgrade my NC750S DCT, until I had a go on my mates.
Big mistake or maybe not...😁

I had a 24 Registered NC750X but never gelled with it, so sold it for the NC750S.
Good luck in your quest.
They are superb bikes, plus 70 - 80+ MPG..
😉

How are these 2 up and touring and what are the luggage options considering an auto box bike soon

that's one of my concerns, do they have enough power for touring with luggage?

Did a week in France last year with a top box and bag on the back seat. The frunk gets a lot in as well. Didn't notice any drop in performance. Interestingly, in a non scientific Top Gear style roll on in 3rd from 30mph against my mate on his Tiger 900 GT Pro, they were neck and neck up to about 70mph

probably runs out of puff above 70mph, as it's only 59 hp?

Runs out of steam about 85, but I rarely go that high anyway, especially in our camera infested island. But I've now got an MT07 with the Y-Amt automated gearbox and apart from luggage carrying abilities, it's head and shoulders above in terms of performance. Still get 75mpg, but this will destroy an NC down a twisty road. 40kg lighter as well. Gearbox is way more clunky than the Honda but I'll take it

yamaha make a DCT type gearbox ?

@magik had one for sale
Sold it a few months ago.
In a few words, it's almost like a diesel engine and in fact, it's just half of the engine of Honda Civic. I wasn't using this bike for longer trips with panniers, etc.. but powerwise, it was OK within the 750cc capacity of course. If you're going to ride solo, even with the full luggage, it should be OK.
And again, the DCT makes this bike brilliant. I wouldn't even consider the manual gearbox in this case.

the "half a honda jazz engine" story is a myth

It's not a DCT as such, as it's still a single clutch, not a dual arrangement. It's basically 2 servos that operate a quickshifter up and down, so it doesn't add much weight over a standard manual affair. Like most quickshifters, it smoothes out the higher the revs, so around town it's pretty clunky. You can have it in manual mode and change gear by using rocker switches on the left bar

the new transalp will be released with the e-clutch system this year

Without going deeper into the tech, I would not compare it to a quickshifter. It is way smoother on low revs and it works brilliantly around town. That is the main reason people go for DCT, at least when they buy the NC750. The only issue is that it sometimes changes gears when you normally wouldn't;) I believe the newer version has been slightly improved here.
