1987, c. 50k miles, original except for a stainless steel exhaust system. In HRC colours which makes it a rare machine, I can’t even find images of this paint scheme online. I bought this a couple of years ago as a light restoration project but haven’t got round to it. As I meander further down memory lane I now want a 90’s Ducati 900 SS (p/x considered) and don’t have room for another bike so the VFR needs to go. The plastics are tatty in places and the tank has a few scratches however it rides beautifully. It’s currently with a local mechanic having a fuel leak and a couple of other minor issues sorted prior to sale but it should be available in the next 2-3 weeks. £2,250 ovno

Well the paint ? Back in 1988 I worked at a motorcycle shope in Stoke on trent ,we used a paint shope called Dream Machine, had lots painted and panels sorted by them ,once a year they would paint a bike for free.we had a like new Honda vfr 750 in white ,we could not give it away ? So Dream Machine we're given the bike and asked to paint it in HRC colours. I wonder? GLWTS

Can’t we have some more pictures please,it’s a cracking looking bike in those colours 😘

Very interesting that, and would explain why I can’t find any references online as per peepingtom’s post.

It is! I thought I had more pictures but apparently not. I’ll pop to see the chap who’s sorting out the few issues before sale and take some more.

More photos as requested, it needs a good clean and obviously it’s raining but hopefully they’ll give you a good idea of overall condition. I am reliably informed that it is a geniune Honda paint scheme, however either way it’s a rare beast. I think it would have had a blue seat, as you can see the edge of blue vinyl under the black. It’s a lovely bike to ride, and if it doesn’t sell I’ll just have to find the space to keep it!

Forgot to say I’ll have it back in the next week so it should be good to go next weekend.

In 1998 I was running an Advanced Course when one of the attendees rolled up on a similarly painted VFR that he’d won in a MCN competition. I can’t guarantee the veracity of his claim but the dates match.

Bump.
£300+ just spent on new fork seals & fresh oil, fuel leak fixed, fresh clutch fluid, front discs cleaned up and 12 months MOT. Be quick before I decide to keep it!

I worked at a Honda dealer back then, the VFR was my favourite bike, CBR1000 too heavy, CBR600 to peaky, the VFR was great, thse models wheelied really well too, and back then these things mattered to me.

Paint was either done by dealer, we used to do the odd dream machine to shift unpopular coloured bikes, the best was RC30 colours, really nice, but less "in your face" than HRC rep.

Currently spaffing all my cash on an 80s stroker, but an early VFR would tempt me more than the later VVT ones.
