After a fair few months, possibly years, of soul searching and thinking, my current ownership of this Honda XRV750 Africa Twin is going to end.
I bought this 1992 RD04 model brand new on the 8th of March 1994.
I bought it from an official Honda dealer, the now defunct The Bike Shop (Faversham) Ltd in, funnily enough, Faversham, Kent.
However, this one was an unofficial import.
The original service book is still with the bike with my name and then address logged in the front.
I located it and bought it for a second time in November 2014 having developed a soft spot for the model. (I owned another from ‘99 to ‘03)
When I got it it was looking a bit tired so I ended up having it stripped back to a bare frame, which was powder coated, and built back up with a myriad of new parts. There are lots of receipts including the one for the brand new set of spokes and Excel rims from Rugged Roads.
I still have the original rims which had succumbed to the dreaded aluminium rot, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away. There are also a few more bits to go with the bike that I’m yet to get from storage. I’ll add photos and descriptions later. (They may already be in another post further down when you’re reading this).
The bike is not a minter. I would describe it as good condition with proof that it’s been used. In my opinion the engine cases are the tattiest parts.
Mileage is under 72,000 km which translates to 44,640 miles or there abouts.
There are two keys.
The bike is booked in for an MOT on Thursday the 9th of April, again I’ll update the thread when that has been done. The bike passed its last inspection 2 years ago and has only done about 10 miles since.
My price, assuming a successful visit to the MOT station, is £4500.
The bike is in Whitstable, Kent. The registration document is in my name at my current address.
I’ll add the pictures that I took a couple of days ago. I also have a short video of the bike running if that helps. I can send that to you if DM me your email address.
