Honda's new touring era (NT 1100)

Oh dear…the styling is a disappointment and bland colour, so far. The CGI versions are much more exciting looking, maybe it’ll look better in the flesh.

Nothing wrong with bland. It’s the build quality that counts.

Looks nothing like the concept renders, the colour schemes are dull as hell and I honestly wouldn't look twice at it, if it rode past. I'll be sticking to my Africa Twin thanks ;)

Looks interesting, but the colour choice is rather dull, they could’ve included a red or a nice metallic blue like the Suzuki. Panniers look like they’ll struggle to get a full face helmet in. Hope they’ve put the cruise control on the left side too as it was a pain to use on the right hand side on the AT.

A bike caught in no mans land. I don't think it will be able to compete with RT's etc on the comfort and weather protection end of the scale, and is blander, heavier and more expensive than the Yam/Susuki/Kwak offerings from their parts bin specials.
Sure it will get some sales with those wanting the easy life of DCT option, but I'll go out on a limb and say it's not going to set the world on fire but will be one of those bikes that only gets recognition 10-12 years down the line with people looking for competent/bomb proof 2nd hand motors.

Have Honda just reimagined the old Pacific Coast? Seems to be a white goods bike in my mind, one for seeing out retirement on perhaps?

Hardly going out on a limb , more like stating the obvious !!

When did Honda last produce a bike that set the world on fire ?
The motor with DCT is very usable with plenty of torque .

I can see this as a great option for those not wanting a behemoth like an RT but want something well made and reliable and with a good degree of character .

F*** me it’s bland though. Who styled it- John Major? There’s literally nothing visually different or exciting about it.

Absolutely agree. Especially the dash. But more importantly is it a well built, comfortable, efficient bike ?. If it is, then it may sell well to people who value those things since BMW no longer produce reliable bikes.

Buy a graphics kit, make it yours?

I think just like NT series of past. They are capable workhorses, and were nothing special. At least latest offering is modern and full useful of tricks, but not so much that it starts to cost a small fortune and take away from actually putting some input into riding.

I am no riding god and I do welcome rider aids, however there is a limit. SOS button being one of them. Yes I wish the latest NT1100 was a Shaft driven just like two previous offerings. But it isn’t the end of the world.

After all it is a bike costing £11999.00 (manual) or £12999.00 (DCT) respectably. There are some optional extras just like with all other manufacturers.

I don’t think it looks ugly or anything. Just a bit plain, which can be personalised with sticker kits, which no doubt will become available promptly.

Could have done better with the colour scheme

Maybe buy a black bike and have a graphics company add a bit of red and white.

I like my AT a lot but never intended taking it off road when I bought it so the long travel suspension and oversize wheels don’t actually match what I bought the bike for, although they don’t actually cause me any issues. Being a long time kawasaki owner I did try all 3 versions of the Versys, preferred the more road focused setup but found them top heavy. The main reason I own and like the AT is its excellent DCT, I would definitely consider trying the NT.

Another annoyance for me on ADV bikes is the upswept exhaust because it hampers the fitting of equal size panniers.

Anyone got any ideas why Honda have relocated the “Handbrake “ ? Looks odd
