I bought a very loud horn from Nippy Normans to replace the feeble effort that BMW supplied on the GS. The wiring instructions that came with it, mention fitting a relay. What is a relay? Can I not just cut off the existing fitting that connects to the BMW horn, fit spade connectors, and connect the new horn. or will something blow?
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I'd rather ask than cock something up.
Thanks

Yes, just cut the old one off as you say. That's what I did and it works perfectly. And very loudly :D :D

WHich horn did you buy? If you bought the Stebel Magnum, which I also did, it will work without a relay. But you need to cut off the stock connectors and put 2 spade connectors that Nippy provides.
Then use the 2 metal brackets supplied and install in the same manner as the stock horn was installed.. eacy job.

If you bought an air horn, you must use the supplied relay.
