Hi All

I'm trying to remove the air filter housing from a 2003 ABS 1150GS.

A hose enters the housing front-right and is clamped by a clip. The clip looks like a BMW special and I can't get the pig-of-a-thing off.

The manual refers to "hose clip pliers, BMWNo. 17 5 500". I can't grip it with normal pliers and its pretty solid. I want to avoid cracking the housing etc.

Whats the secret (apart from buying a BMW tool that I'll use once...)?

Cheers

It's a doddle - with a screwdriver just lever the "on top" side up where they join , so it slides apart.

These are what you need but even with them, because of the limited room, Steptoe's solution is still the only real option.

If you really get stuck, you can always cut the pipe (it's the crankcase breather) and join it with a rat-tail connector and a couple of hose-clips.

Or just undo it at the crankcase and leave the airbox end connected.

I set to it with a screw driver as recommended, but applied more pressure. It suddenly sprung loose. Great responses and thanks for your help. Trev
