Any recommendations for quality gear that keeps you cool while still giving solid protection in case of the worst? I am touring northern Spain late April early may and I do suffer from sweaty gentlemans parts when riding long distance in summmer even in this country. I am pretty happy with my Jacket but would like some lightweight trousers with good venting and also boots. I did by a pair of Hein Gericke boots a couple of years ago with panels that let in cool air but they fell apart fairly quickly.

thanks John

we go around the picos once a year, and at that time of year it can be chilly especially up the mountains ,.i wouldnt bother looking for any summer wear.use what you use in this country, cos it wont be hot.went a few years ago in late may,and there was snow still on the sides of the roads, and snow ploughs parked up.hope this helps. j

I used Alpinestars mesh type jacket and trousers in Italy last year and it was very good.

Have now changed to BMW airflow stuff and I think it is a bit better quality but is not as vented.

Harlvarssons do some nice summer gloves as well.

... through Northern Spain last May, and I'd just echo the above. It didn't really start warming up until we were level with Madrid. Absolutely no problem using standard UK kit, albeit without the winter liners.

I'm there at the mo and believe you me there is snow'a'plenty :eek

The trouble with really cool gear (I use Klim) is it's lack of protection so you then end up using armour under it, prob cooler than built in stuff but much more hassle ...

Get a pair of BMW summer 2 pants.
They are strong as hell, lightweight and have brilliant armour in. Ive shopped around and couldnt see anything better.
I used them in the heat last year and they were great.
They are NOT waterproof tho.
