The Hague, Holland
looking for a hotel close to the town of Lacaune, Tarn valley, France. Planning for next year and am looking for a hotel that has parking faciliites and preferably a reastaurant that is open on a Monday. Any ideas? No more thatn 40km distance from this point.

The Logis Relais de Fusiès hotel in the town of Lacaune’s website shows;

Motorcycle parking
Restaurant open on Monday

Menu looks OK.

Failing that, take a look in Castres (46 km direct). It’s a pretty large place, so something suitable should (I guess) turn up.

Thanks, yes, We stayed there this last trip. Rooms very tired and shabby, Restaurant was OK, Bike parking was across the road by the church - ''en publique''
Worse case scenraio we can book again but this time insisting on the bike parking which although I did last time we were told it was full.
Advantage is dinner was available on the Monday which for France is rare.....and indeed it was very good.

Several other hotels in Castres, from the Ibis Styles upwards. If their restaurant isn’t open (or not up to snuff) then something should turn up in the town, no doubt. Or just have a pizza for one night. Adventure motorcycling; life on the edge.

I would look along the D999 that runs from Albi to Millau. It's a great road and as the main route through the area, has more villages and small towns.

Somewhere like St Affrique. This place says it has a garage for bikes and the restaurant is open 7 days. Several other options for food.

I'd give it a punt.

That’s a good suggestion and is outside of a major town, if that’s important.

I guess the final location selected might (in some way or another) depend on where the next day’s destination is to be.

Thats very true! And part of the reason I asked for within 40km of the town of Lacaune

Indeed, but if it’s 40 km past (in the wrong direction) of the way you want to head the next day, it’s 40 km to retrace your steps.

It’s what we sometimes see when bods ask for hotels within 30 miles of Calais. Folk recommend say St Omer, which is not so good if they really want to be heading past Boulogne.

There again, for the right hotel, time lost might well be worth it.

My Spidey sense predicted they are heading NE from Tarn, hence S Affrique as a suggestion

Very possibly. I had guessed them heading from the Gorges du Tarn, towards Lacaune. St Affrique is a good suggestion, either way.

made a few adjustements as you normallly have to do in such cases and thanks for the tips .... (y) (y) (y)
Will probably extend the last day in Spain to a longer trip and move everything ''up'' by 40 km.
I like the look of the place @Arsey sggested at the Chateau de Creissels....BUT, again closed on Mondays for food but there should be lots of choice in Milau itself.

Millau certainly has a fair number of the chain type hotels and AirB&B type places, as befits a semi-light industrial town of about 22,000 souls.

It can get very busy in the summer, as it’s a popular tourist destination. If there’s a sizeable group, I’d recommend possibly booking.

Have a look at Domain St Esteve, perhaps?

You’ll maybe need to contact them directly to find out the restaurant’s opening hours / days. Assorted websites recommend pre-booking the restaurant.

Jeu de Paume restaurant in Millau, if it's open on Mondays, is worth a visit.
