Currently travelling in Spain and using Ainsa as a base for the Pyrenees.

Would like to recommend the ‘Hotel Apolo’ in Ainsa https://www.hotelapolo.com/en/home/:
  • Free parking for motorbikes (secure underground Garage)
  • Free wash down point for motorbikes - Karcher jet wash, plus airlines etc
  • Free laundry self service (washers and dryers)
  • Immaculate rooms, extremely clean and family run. Varied selection, some have kitchen facilities etc. All have a fridge.
  • Extremely cheap, excellent value for money. Breakfast included.
  • 5 minutes walk to the centre (not the 20 that it seems to say on Booking.com)
Some amazing routes also - breathtaking.

We’re there next week .
How cold is cold as my weather app said Ainsa got to 18 degs c today and was sunny .

+1 for hotel meson - stayed there plenty of times. Nice family run hotel not too flashy but not too expensive either. Lots of good routes in the area probably be there this august on my eclipse trip.

We travelled from the Silent Route area north aiming for Huesca or possibly Aínsa today but ended up in Uncastillo a bit south and west - our plans and route are fluid to the point of negligible. The day started at +5 in the valley but quickly dropped to a low of +2 in mist and rain over the very high bits (1500metres and more) which seemed to go in forever. No snow fortunately. By mid afternoon it was 14-16c with sunny intervals (about 50% cloud) but very strong wind which was horrible along the flat open plains in Zaragoza area. When we stopped even sitting in the full sun was uncomfortably cool. Spanish TV has had loads about the unseasonable weather - wettest and coldest in the North and west it seems but snow on all high mountains in Spain.

Monday looks like the day the weather breaks for the better. We get the ferry home on Monday. It’s all my fault apparently as I didn’t bring my down inner jacket. Wifey did though.

A good enough reason to look at getting a lightweight electric liner / waistcoat, perhaps?
Now you are just being silly. This is a late Spring trip to Spain. If I didn’t bring a down jacket as I thought I wouldn’t need it i definitely didn’t think I would need my heated base layer. It’s just one of things about travel by motorcycle, sometimes it’s cold sometimes it’s too hot, oft times it’s wet. Just get on with it.

Tbh we’ve both said it’s easier for us to cope with being cold than it is too hot. Which looking at the longer term forecast it’s going to be too hot in a few days.

Mustn’t grumble….

I suggested the lightweight electric liner, simply as I think they can cover bases better than a down jacket. I guess I was looking at is either as a simple layer, but one which you can crack up the temperature of if required.

There again, a down liner can often be worn off the bike, too.

Six and two threes, perhaps?

Enjoy your holiday!
