I need some advice on where to stay in Istanbul for a business trip next week. At least one meeting I have is on the Asian side, but I am not sure about the others, the company I am meeting with has recommended the Marriott but it is 175Euro's a night  I am going to be there for 3 nights so would mind being somewhere where I can wonder around and find a beer and food easily - am I better staying on the European side and travelling over to the Asian side when I need to? Is it a nightmare to get between the two areas?

Cheers

David

The White House Hotel is one of the better and I have booked at double room rate 138 euro. They have a website and I found it cheaper to book direct ,also they will pick you up at airport, the problem maybe will BA take you to the airport ?

I decided not to risk using BA and went with Easyjet instead.:augie

White House is fully booked - I had looked at it before as it is No1 on TripAdvisor.

Yeah but , remember to take the Taxi Number on the roof sign as every other vehicle in Istanbul is a yellow Skoda Fabia and the view infront becomes a Bananna Star Burst if you get it wrong ...................... :blast

Lots of pent of aggression there? :nenau

We stayed in a hotel opposite the Blue Mosque. It was really nice. Old charming rooms that didn't smell.

Nice bar/breakfast room on the roof with great views.
Parking literally outside

Easy to take the tram thing to the otherside and stay in this more "tourist" side.

Easyjet fly into Sahiba Gokcen, on the Asian side, and if most of your meetings are there it might be better to stop there. The area the hotel the Arse Trotters stayed is good for seeing a bit of the place, and getting over to the Asian side is but a short boat trip away. A taxi between the two continents, using the bridges, will take about a month either way, there's a bit of traffic here. Try to find out where the other meetings are and let us know. When will you be here? Beer?

I am here now :D Beer........yep sat at the bar

I am in the Elite World Hotel in Taksim. I decided to stay this side because I was warned that the hotels recommended on the other side were a little isolated. I was taken down to the seaside this afternoon for beers and snacks - bloody lovely, sitting there with some good food a few beers and watching the ferries and ships make their way along the Bosphorous, I like this place :thumb2

The taksi drivers are very mental - I would not fancy riding a fully laden GS around this city!!!!

Interstingly one of the contacts at the company we are working with rides a 650GS - it was quite a surprise becuase SHE doesn't look the motorbike type :augie

How long are you here for? I should be able to get to Taksim tomorrow evening if you're at a loss for something to do. Drop me a PM.
