robeekay67....I'd have to differ from you on that....
Before I did my DA course and test a few years ago, I went round many dealers to see what I fancied and pick up some hints... only one of them didnt stop paying any interest to my dumb newbie questions as soon as they found I hadnt ridden a bike since i was 16.....all but one basically said 'come back when you're a serious customer' or 'come back when we can make some quick money from you'....
The exceptions were Prestige in Bexleyheath.......Stuart spent half an hour chatting away, asking about what i thought i might be wanting to do on a bike, getting me sat on some nice shiny kit and generally showing what felt like a genuine interest.
I went back a couple of times after.....he remembered my name and I was always greeted with a handshake and an offer of a cuppa....then when i was doing my CBT and wanted a decent jacket and while i was in various dealers again, they seemed interested and offered good advice, whearas Garrozzo's, Lagunas, Aye Gees and that grotty place in Welling still weren't interested beyond seling me the jacket and shooing me out of the door.
From all of that, I started paying more and more attention to the F650 Funduro, and they were my first stop to buy one as soon as i passed my full test......I did get my next bike from Aye Gees but only because i was buying down to a price for that one, but the brand loyalty was already there and not just because of the bikes.....
For me, it's not just the bikes....I like the fact that every BWM dealership i've been into have seemed more friendly than the others.....i feel more confident with them, and, *shit i'm welling up now

* there is a feeling of belonging more than with other brands......
A cynic (and i do count myself as one) would say that they're just taking the long term view, but for me at least it's worked....I probably won't get my servicing done inside the BWM network after my warrenty runs out, but because of the way i've been treated and their attitude, as well as the fact that the GS is a fantastic bike that does everything that i've found i wanted it to do (and allows a fat tall bastard to do without any compromises or discomfort), I'm a BWM fan now.
I havent got as much biking experience as many here, but at the end of the day, if i get treated well and made to feel comfortable and confident in what they're doing for me, they have a person who will accept a slightly higher (debateable from what's been posted but even so..) rate for the service i have recieved over the years.
Just think...if they hadnt have been nice to me I'd never have met Uncle Albert
