.... from my camera, a Canon A720IS. From what I can see the following might be possible:
  • Connection from its 3.5mm socket
  • Connection from its mini USB socket
  • By using an adaptor to take the SD card
Following a visit yesterday to the Apple Shop in Manchester's Arndale Centre I can cough up £25-plus for two different adaptors (only one of which would suitable) from them or I could go on Amazon for example and get what I need for £3.69 with free postage at
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shinntto-di...7BB0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1355442400&sr=8-2
From what I can see from the picture I suspect that the plug that should go into the 30-way socket in the iPad is not in fact a 30-way plug despite the blurb saying that the reader is in fact suitable for all iPads. Can anyone here tell me if it is suitable or not?

Or should I go for the cord options if I manage to find one?

My primitive way and clearly without any of the knowledge you possess is to simply download from camera to PC and upload via itunes to ipad

Alternatively Apple do an adapter that fits in the iPad connector that will take a SD card or a USB cable

Probably get one off ebay as well, think they are £25 from Apple

I use an adaptor for an SD Card, which plugs into the iPad. Cost me about 2 quid from eBay.

I've the Shinntto adaptor, just put in the SD card, works fine. Sometimes comes up with a message 'device not supported' but ignore it and it goes away.

Another slightly more expensive option is an EyeFi SD card. Not too bad if you need an SD card tho, then you can download it to your ipad/iphone(or android device) or your home PC, upload to lots of sites on the web, facebook etc.
A nice feature is the endless memory option i.e. when card gets full it auto uploads to phone/device thereby freeing up space!. I have one on my Nikon AW100 compact and am well impressed so far :)

Linky thing

+1, I have the Shittio one and despite its name it works as described above

Or.....create a Picasa account, upload piccies from computer to Picasa, install Best Album app on ipad and access them anywhere. You can choose to save them locally on ipad.

Added bonus is that your photos are backed up online for free.
