Is it possible to put a 140/80/18 tyre something like a Michelin Tracker or Michelin Enduro Medium on a Royal Enfield Himalayan which has a 140/80/17 rear tyre by default?

My mate has a Himmy 450 and is discovering the joys of green laning and needs a more aggressive and capable rear tyre.

Alternatively if anyone could recommend a 17” rear which is as capable as the above two Michelin tyres I’ve mentioned that would be great. 👍

Thanks.

I have a Mitas Enduro XT+ Dakar on my 17 inch rear which is 150/70/17 and looks like they do the same tyre in 140/80/17 which I think is Himalayan rear size. I run the XT+'s on front and rear, the front is awesome.

I'm going to try the XT (not the XT+) next for the next rear as they offer that in a non-Dakar compound.

I wouldnt imagine an 18inch tyre would seal properly on a 17inch rim.

Mitas gets my vote as well.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve forwarded the info onto my mate. 👍

Presuming the 18-17 was a typo...plenty of Voge 300 Rally riders have swapped the 50-50 chinese tyres the bikes came with for the Michelin Tracker and all seem to like how they ride with them on...generally greenlaning (or its continental equivalent) (The Voge is 160kg and about 27hp, I believe the Himmy is a bit heavier with a bit more power)
