How crappy are the roads

Had a couple of hours out this afternoon. Chipping, Slaidburn, Bentham, Settle, Ribblehead. The roads are in a right state. Slippery, frost damage, gravel, standing water, animal poo, tractor poo and all the crap thrown up by idiot car drivers dropping wheels onto the verge.
The weather was cold. It was drizzling, misty, wet and miserable.

And I had a fantastic time with no-one else on the roads...

I know... ain't it great... soon I won't have to go off road in order to be 'off road'

I emailed our Chief of Police his Deputyand the Director of highways this weekend.. in the last week I had 3 moments on the bike due to mud on the roads...I also pointed out that if I with knowledge put a load of oil or diesel on the road without due consideration of other road users, I am sure that I would be in court answering to my actions....I can't see the difference between my example and the amount of mud on the roads caused generally by farmers that when wet is as bad as oil or diesel...I will let you know what if anything happens...this is why my bike looks like it does, I have washed it but it only take a round trip on a wet day to look like this...

In Mexico, first thing in the morning the house & shopkeepers used to hose down the road/pavement (it was one) to keep the dust down. That caused severe puddling & dips in the road surface ( well.....actually it was dried mud.)

I fear we're not too far away from that here....

I fear you are right... What's it like in Aggie-on-Horseback (WsM) these days..I've not been for a number of years..
