I bought a Garmin 2610 2nd hand and the home is that of the previous owner. I have looked through the manual and tried the various menus but cannot see where to change home to my address!!

Help!

press "find" and then "waypoints", select home and delete it.
Then press and hold "menu" to select a route and in the right corner will be "set home waypoint"

If I were you I wouldn't add your home as your home for security reasons. Find a biulding somewhere that you know about a mile away from home and use that as a home waypoint. The reason is if someone gets hold of your GPS they will know where you live

i've wondered about that. is that any different from them getting hold of my gas bill etc?

Seen it done on a real life program, where they got hold of someones GPS while they were shopping and drove to their home and robbed it.

Thats why you should NEVER put your old GPS's in the bin. Always shred (preferably crosscut) them first....

there must be easier, and more reliable ways to find out if a house is empty?

...and there must be more likely things to worry about. maybe i'm too trusting?

Follow the route to it's present "Home", tell the occupant that unless he changes the co-ordinates for home that you will be aking up occupancy at his house and that you consider his entry on the GPS to be a legal contract entitling you to now refer to his home as your "Home":D

Thanks Terrayon, simple when you know how! Just back from a trip to Skye today, hence no reply earlier...found my way home without the sat nav too!! haha.
